Urgent Help!!!

I’ve had this problem for a long time and it has been coming and going. Every time I think I have deleted the virus it somehow comes back down the track.
When I open my internet browser and try to type into the URL or search engine, the page immediately refreshes and the mouse pointer constantly flickers making it almost impossible to access internet pages. This mostly happens when im typing, browsing through internet pages with the mouse doesn’t seem to trigger the problem.
Clicking on the desktop background during this phase causes all the desktop icons to also flicker.
Its not just an internet problem, typing in word is also difficult as every so often the find and replace dialog box annoyingly pops up as I type.
For some reason pressing the escape key stops the flickering, however once I start typing again the same process starts again.
I accidentally opened notepad during this and automaticly the date/time kept typing in automaticly and didnt stop until i closed notepad.
I've also run a virus scan using trend micro and it found this trojan:

TROJ_SMALL.HZU loadadv703.exe found in C:\WINDOWS\fd.exe

This may be the problem but i havn't had this trojan come up in the past using tren micro witht he same problem.

heres the HJT scan log:

Re: Urgent Help!!!

Hi, welcome to to tsf!

You're using an older version of Hijackthis. Please uninstall the older version via control panel > add/remove programs

Please click Here to download HijackThis to your desktop.

Click the Download button. When the Trend Micro HJT install box appears, double click on the HJTInstall.exe. Click on Install.

It will be installed by default here: C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

A shortcut to the application will also be placed on your Desktop.

The program will open automatically after installation.

You can double-click the icon that was placed on the Desktop to run subsequent HijackThis scans or you can use the icon inside the folder. The folder HijackThis is where you will find the HJT logs that you save. When you use the application to remove anything, you will also find the backup copies made by HJT inside this folder.

Click on "Do a system scan and save logfile" When the log pops up in Notepad, close it and exit hijackthis.
_________

Download Deckard's System Scanner to your Desktop.

Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

1. Close all applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, a text file will open - main.txt.txt<<this one will be maximized and extra.txt <<this one will be minimized.
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt.txt in your next reply.
6. Please copy and paste the contents of main.txt and extra.txt to your post.

Re: Urgent Help!!!

Hi,

I don't see malware from your logs.. most of it are just leftovers..

I see you have P2P software ( Azureus Vuze, LimeWire 4.18.3 ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.

Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares.

References for the risk of these programs are here, here, and here.

I would strongly recommend that you uninstall it, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove this program, you can do so via Control Panel >> add/remove programs

If you decided to uninstall them, also delete these Folders if they still exist:

C:\Program Files\Azureus
C:\Program Files\LimeWire
_________

While both Tea timer and SpyBot are closed
Right click here and click save link as
Save it as resetteatimer.bat to your desktop
  • Run Spybot-S&D
  • Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
  • On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
  • Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
  • Restart your computer.
Double click on resetteatimer.bat and wait for it to finish

Since it will not be needed again delete ResetTeaTimer.bat.

You may turn the Tea timer back on via SpyBots' tools> resident page when your computer is clean.

Note: If teatimer gives you a warning afterwards that some changes were made, allow this instead of blocking it.

Re: Urgent Help!!!

Hi, if you don't use PKR, I recommend you uninstall it.

Poker programs are usually bundled with adware and they serve as vectors for malware to enter your system.

If you decided to uninstall PKR, delete this folder:

C:\Program Files\PKR
_______

Let's empty your quarantine.

Open trend micro security suite

Go to virus and spyware controls, under quarantine, click "examine quarantined files"

After the new windows comes out, highlight the quarantined entries then click the "delete" button on top.

How is your machine running?

Re: Urgent Help!!!

It seems that you have had lots of problems there..

Are all of them still there?

Can you describe to me what's happening now?

Re: Urgent Help!!!

Yes all of them are still there exactly as i had written before. icons still flicker at startup when i click on the desktop background and when i press escape it stops and appears normal. it occasionally occurs on the internet when i have to type such as now typing on this forum. it refreshes the page randomly as i type and i have to open a new browser hoping it won't occur again. i'm certain it is one virus causing these problems, but i've never been able to find it. word and notepad still have the same problem.

Re: Urgent Help!!!

This should not be malware related.

I just saw this: http://forums.techguy.org/malware-re...lp-please.html

It seems that you have received assistance elsewhere without letting me know. We only have few helpers in the community and two helpers helping only one person wastes our time.

I suggest you start a new thread here: http://www.techsupportforum.com/micr...ws-xp-support/

Make sure you update your Antivirus programs and other security products regularly to avoid new threats that could infect your system.

Please check out Tony Klein's article "How did I get infected in the first place?"

And miekiemoes' "How to Prevent Malware"

Happy safe surfing!

Re: Urgent Help!!!

Both sites are different but the antimalware community is one big community.

Some helpers help out at other forums too. Helpers are capable of fixing your machine because they were trained. Instead of helping others who are in need, you occupied two helpers. That's what I meant by "wasting our time."

No worries. You could post in our xp forum about that flashing problem. It should not be malware related.

I'm going to close this now. Have a great day.
