Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
I am having problems with continuous pop up which i cannot get rid off. Also each time i start up computer norton antivirus detects malicious scripts these are sprt.cmd and sprt.exe. I stop these running to continue on pc but they reappear each time i sign on. The Norton help gives an option to quarantine but this does not appear on my list of options. I contacted Norton help only to be asked for a further £70 for them to help. During the steps one to five i was not able to do the panda online scan, nothing happened when i clicked on this.

Re: Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
Hello and Welcome. Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools, then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant Notification, then click Subscribe.
Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix. It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence. The items being identified by Norton seem to me to be False Positives. They seem to be part of Dell's Support and Update functions. They should be ignored by Norton. Is your Norton subscription current? Your Add or Remove section indicates you're using the Norton 2005 engine...or has is all been updated and that's an echo? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please download & install - ERUNT (This is a utility that'll replicate a copy of your Registry)
======================================== Please download OTMoveIt2 by OldTimer.
If the machine reboots, the Results log can be found here: c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log Where mmddyyyy_hhmmss is the date of the tool run. ====================================== Please run DSS once again, and post it's log.

Re: Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
Please post the OTMoveIt log.
c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log Where mmddyyyy_hhmmss is the date of the tool run. How did you manage to get a second extra.txt when you ran DSS this time?

Re: Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
Just to be clear...did you just perform the instructs for OTMoveIt a second time?
HijackThis to your desktop Alternate link Double-click on the file you just downloaded. Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis Upon install, HijackThis should open for you. Should it not open, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe 1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
Ok, thanks...that explains what I'm seeing a bit better.
The popups should be a thing of the past now. Please let me know. Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Re: Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
Hi
Popups have all gone now thanks very much. I also authorized those two scripts, i assume that was right as they were part of Dell. Below are logs as requested in last message, i have also included the correct log from Moveit2, found the right one. Only problem i still seem to have is start up is extremely slow, as is opening up my browser both firefox and ie. susan # version=4 # OnlineScanner.ocx=1.0.0.56 # OnlineScannerDLLA.dll=1, 0, 0, 51 # OnlineScannerDLLW.dll=1, 0, 0, 51 # OnlineScannerUninstaller.exe=1, 0, 0, 49 # vers_standard_module=3186 (20080613) # vers_arch_module=1.064 (20080214) # vers_adv_heur_module=1.064 (20070717) # EOSSerial=d263dcefbbbb0d4386df8739a712a0fc # end=finished # remove_checked=false # unwanted_checked=true # utc_time=2008-06-14 06:40:58 # local_time=2008-06-14 07:40:58 (+0000, GMT Daylight Time) # country="United Kingdom" # osver=5.1.2600 NT Service Pack 2 # scanned=448168 # found=2 # scan_time=7448 C:\Program Files\NetSpy Protector\quarantie\11-05-2008-14-44-59\4de73522-e75a-4847-9408-e1e71e308bbb\F3HTMLMU.DLL probably a variant of Win32/Adware.SearchAid application 17C7770230C6C75054B2A9210755584E C:\Program Files\NetSpy Protector\quarantie\11-05-2008-14-44-59\4de73522-e75a-4847-9408-e1e71e308bbb\MWSOEPLG.DLL probably a variant of Win32/Adware.SearchAid application 29446F22E4FCED88C402CB4F907B4868 Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 11:43:54, on 15/06/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16674) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\csrss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccProxy.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccSetMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\ISSVC.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SNDSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SPBBC\SPBBCSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Symantec\LiveUpdate\ALUSchedulerSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Family Safety\fsssvc.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft LifeCam\MSCamS32.exe C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsAuxs.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsSvc.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\sdhelp.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\bin\sprtsvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\CCPD-LC\symlcsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\nmsrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Center\SymWSC.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\alg.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\Program Files\Spyware Doctor\pctsTray.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\stsystra.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\DVDLauncher.exe C:\Program Files\Dell\Media Experience\DMXLauncher.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\dla\tfswctrl.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\UpdateService\issch.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Pure Networks\Network Magic\nmapp.exe C:\WINDOWS\vsnpstd2.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\WINDOWS\vVX3000.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Family Safety\fssui.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\RealOneMessageCenter.exe C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\bin\sprtcmd.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\DellSupport\DSAgnt.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SUPERAntiSpyware.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Desktop Search\GoogleDesktop.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Google Updater\GoogleUpdater.exe C:\Program Files\RALINK\RT2500 USB Wireless LAN Card\Installer\WINXP\RaConfig2500USB.exe C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbem\wmiprvse.exe R1 - Re: Pop Ups and Malicious Scripts
The only items found by Eset online scanner are in NetSpy Protector quarantine.
C:\Program Files\NetSpy Protector\quarantie I don't see that this application is still installed, which is good, because it is on the Rogueware List at SpywareWarrior. If it is not still installed, you can just delete this entire folder: C:\Program Files\NetSpy Protector If it is still in Add or Remove programs, uninstall it first, then delete the folder. As far as a slow machine goes, it looks at though you have some unnecessary startups using additional resources. Have a look at StartupLite StartUpLite is very easy, just download the small file and double click StartUpLite.exe. A box appears showing programs that don’t need to startup at boot. Choose whichever options you prefer and click Continue. A slow machine is not always a product of infection. I no longer see any sign of active infection Please see this sticky topic: http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...ning-slow.html We do not recommend the use of registry cleaners. Our colleague miekiemoes has an excellent writeup here Another excellent article by Bill Castner is located here. For further assistance with a slow machine, if still required, please ask for help in the Windows XP section of the forum. ================================== Aside from that, from a malware perspective, your logs appear clean. You should be good to go. We still have a few items to address. C:\Deckard is DSS working folder. You can safely delete it. Also delete dss.exe C:\System Volume Information\ is where System Restore's cache is stored. Whatever is in there can't harm you unless you choose to perform a manual restore. Nevertheless, we shall be resetting/clearing the cache in a little while. Reset hidden/system files and folders
Clear & Reset System Restore's Cache
Now that your system is clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you follow these steps and use the following free programs:
Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety.
In light of your recent troubles, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
