Re: Pop-Ups

As part of it's uninstall routine, ComboFix would have reset hidden/system files/folders to default, reset System Restore points, as well as deleted C:\Deckard

We can do that manually.

Reset hidden/system files and folders
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
  • Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

CLEAR & RESET SYSTEM RESTORE'S CACHE

Go to Start >> Run - type or copy/paste control sysdm.cpl,,4 & press Enter

* Tick on the checkbox - Turn off System Restore on all drives
* Click Apply

Turn it back 'On' by unticking the same checkbox & click Apply, and then OK

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Locate and delete C:\Deckard.

I hope they can help you resolve your Windows Installer issue.

Re: Pop-Ups

Theres a few files in my C drive that I think were created during all this and I was wondering if I could get rid of those as well. They are: QooBox (folder), Boot.bak, CF-RC.txt, cmldr, ComboFix.txt

There also seems to be a new folder called cmdcons but it seems to have alot of files in it

The items labeled No have to do with the recovery console. Don't go in there! If you don't know what you're doing, you can irreparably harm your machine!

All of this would also been taken care of by uninstalling ComboFix.
