Re: Please Help! DayTotals took my browser!
You are using an outdated version of HijackThis. Please uninstall from Add or Remove Programs, and then delete your current version.
Next, download HijackThis to your desktop Alternate link This program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded. Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis Upon install, HijackThis should open for you. Should it not open, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe 1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Please post a new log with the updated version.. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Create an uninstall list: With HiJackThis still open

Re: Please Help! DayTotals took my browser!
Do not create a new thread for each reply. It will only take longer for you to get helped. I'm subscribed to this topic, and will get email notifications of your reply.
I've merged these threads. As you can see, I also asked for an uninstall list, using HijackThis. Create an uninstall list:

Re: Please Help! DayTotals took my browser!
You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites: http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...Fixwareout.exe http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal. Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt), you can close it - the file has already been saved. Please post the contents of the text file that opened earlier (you can find it at C:\fixwareout\report.txt ) in your next reply. **If you receive an error message while trying to run FixWareout, copy autoexec.nt from the C:\WINDOWS\repair folder to C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder, and run FixWareout again. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan and save a Logfile'. Save the log file and post it here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Please Help! DayTotals took my browser!
P2P - I see you have P2P software ( Limewire ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.
Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares. References for the risk of these programs are here, here and here. I would strongly recommend that you uninstall them, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries if they exist (make sure you do not miss any) and click Fix Checked R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = R3 - URLSearchHook: PeoplePal Toolbar - {A8FB8EB3-183B-4598-924D-86F0E5E37085} - (no file) O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D80C4E21-C346-4E21-8E64-20746AA20AEB} - (no file) O2 - BHO: YahooTaggedBM Class - {65D886A2-7CA7-479B-BB95-14D1EFB7946A} - (no file) O2 - BHO: UberButton Class - {5BAB4B5B-68BC-4B02-94D6-2FC0DE4A7897} - (no file) O2 - BHO: PeoplePal Toolbar - {A8FB8EB3-183B-4598-924D-86F0E5E37085} - (no file) O3 - Toolbar: PeoplePal Toolbar - {A8FB8EB3-183B-4598-924D-86F0E5E37085} - (no file) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.adorons.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.webdate.com O15 - Trusted Zone: http://Download.Windowsupdate.com O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://zone.msn.com/bingame/popcaploader_v10.cab O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: NameServer = 85.255.114.89,85.255.112.196 Close HijackThis now. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see no evidence of an AntiVirus program on your system. This must be resolved. Connecting to the Internet without antivirus protection is a "Welcome" doormat for malware. It can take as little as eight seconds to infect an unprotected computer. Here are a few very good free Antivirus products which are available:Select one of these, or another of your choice. Do not install more than one antivirus program because they will conflict with each other. It is imperative that you update your antivirus software at least once a week (even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch new malware that may have come out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update. Updating Java:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
![]()
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan and save a Logfile'. Save the log file and post it here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
