Cry Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Hi All,
Hoping you can help. At my wits end. I have a machine that has been infected by SecBar-B, Tiny-JC and to top it off there appears to be dday.dll that is causing the crash of Firefox. I have Avast installed and have tried to clean this virus to no avail. I have looked through the forums and have found DrDelete to force delete certain .exe files and .dll's but after 24 hours the virus detector goes off again with the same infection. I have also run the Vundoo remover and installed AVG as some have suggested

When I run Firefox and try to listen to streaming content it crashes Firefox and wants to send a report back to the FF folks. It cites dday.dll in the tech log. When I Googled this dll it was noted that it is a virus..??

Thanks in advance for any help given as am at my wits end.

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
  5. Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simply
  1. Click the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
  2. copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:
    C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt
  3. Click Upload.
What DSS will do:
  • create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

EEK! Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Hello TheBruce1
Firstly a huge THANK YOU for your willingness to help.

I downloaded the dss package and ran it. It came up with a few strange windows - it was trying to install my MYOB accounting package and not able to find install CD's(www.myob.com.au).... so I hit cancel on those windows and dss seemed to progress on its way. During it's information collecting AVAST alarm went off with the following:
C:\windows\system32\gcgqcixc.exe
Win32:Tiny-JC
and a second time with
c:\windows\system32\unidskkt.dll
Win32:ConHook-CF

I moved these two items to the Avast CHEST.

The Deckards Main.txt follows

Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Hello again wildkingcobra

Even though Avast has moved gcgqcixc.exe and unidskkt.dll to the chest you still have active infections showing.

======================================================

Please follow all instructions and in which order they come,if you have any questions,please ask before proceeding.ts important that you follow this through until i give you the all clear,a lack of symptoms does not mean the infection is gone.

======================================================

Click > Start > Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs :

Java(TM) 6 Update 2
Leave Java(TM) 6 Update 3 installed
TVAnts 1.0<---Known to install trojans

=======================================================

Download ComboFix from Here or here

**Save it to your desktop**Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

========================================================

Disconnect from the internet

========================================================

Go to → Run → paste in the single line command & click OK
"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /killall
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log & a fresh HJT log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

======================================================

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan and save a Logfile'. Save the log file and post it here.

=======================================================

Reconnect to the internet and post the required logs

=======================================================

Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Greetings TheBruce
I have done as requested. During the ComboFix run it seemed to repeatedly try and install my MYOB accounting package.... could do nothing but hit the cancel button. Thus there were mouse clicks during the ComboFix scan.

The two files - Java and TVAnts appeared to be deleted without fuss.

I also needed to cold boot the machine as at the end nothing appeared on my machine except the windows wallpaper.

The logs as requested follow:

Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Good job.

Most of the infections that where showing are no present in your logs.

=====================================================

Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
  • The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended
    • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
      • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK & have it scan My Computer
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license has been accepted, reset to 100%.

======================================================

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan and save a Logfile'. Save the log file and post it here.

=======================================================

Let us know how your system is behaving,thanks.

Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Hello again wildkingcobra

I see you have no third party firewall installed,whilst XP has a built-in firewall it only monitors inbound traffic,it does not monitor outbound traffic.

Using a firewall will allow you to give/deny access for applications that want to go online. Select one of these, or another of your choice:.

=======================================================

Well done,your logs are clean.

Click start>run>type(or copy/paste command into run box):

ComboFix /u

Click ok.

======================================================

Clear IE7 cookies

*On the Internet Explorer 7 Tools menu, click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab.
*On the General tab, in the Browsing History, click the Delete button. This will delete all the files that are currently stored in your cache [that includes cookies too].
*Click OK, and then click OK again.

Clear Firefox cookies/cache

• Select "Tools"
• Select "Options".
• Select "Privacy".
• In "Settings" window put the check mark for Cookies,Cache,Browsing history and any others you want.
• Click OK.
• In Private area click "Clear Now".

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MICROSOFT UPDATES

1.Click Start,Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then press OK.
2.Click the Automatic Updates tab, and then click to select one of the following options. We recommend that you select the Automatic (recommended).

Microsoft updates are released every second Tuesday of each month,what is called "Patch Tuesday".

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Useful Information and Programs to keep you safe.

TrendProtect is a FREE browser plug-in that helps you avoid Web pages with unwanted content and hidden threats. TrendProtect rates the current page and pages listed in Google, MSN, and Yahoo search results. You can use the rating to decide if you want to visit or avoid a given Web page. To rate Web pages, TrendProtect refers to an extensive database that covers the following information for billions of Web pages:

* Content category
* Phishing scam detection
* Site reputation
* Page reputation

WOT Free helps you avoid disingenuous Internet content by allowing you to learn from others' experiences. WOT shows you website reputations on your browser, telling you how much other users trust a website. This helps you make better decisions while browsing and avoid phishing, malware, and other types of fraud. Reputations can also be added to web search results, Gmail, Wikipedia, and other selected sites.

WOT reputations are computed mainly from user testimonies. Sharing your knowledge with others is just a click away, without ever having to leave the site. We also collect data from hundreds of other sources (including PhishTank) to quickly warn you of emerging threats. Currently, WOT knows over 12 million websites.
Note:Only compatible with Firefox 1.5 and higher.

Only install one of the above

Try the following free alternate browsers rather than Internet Explorer
Avant
Firefox
Opera

Free Antispyware Products
SuperAntiSpyware
AVG Antispyware Free
Ad-Aware
Spybot S&D
Download SpywareBlaster 3.5.1 to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place. Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions. After you have updated, click the button - enable protection for all unprotected items.
Download Spyware Guard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.

IE-Spyad™ is a freeware utility that places more than 4000 dubious websites and domains in the Internet Explorer Restricted List.

Download and installation instructions for IE-Spyad™ Here

-----------------------------------------

The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one that will restrict known ad sites from serving you unsolicited advertisements. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is the IP of your local computer. Note that if you use a company provided HOSTS file you should not use the MVPS HOSTS file.

If your having trouble downloading & extracting,see link below for guidance:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm

Once you have extracted the host file,double click on it and a new window will open.

Double-click on mvps.batand follow the prompts

Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Greetings again The Bruce1

I am a liitle concerned that when we ran the Kaspersky scan the below still still appeared. Is it normal to have Kaspersky report virus when the logs are clear?

Please let me know
Thanks

Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

System Volume Information is your system restore,any time you delete a file window makes a back-up of that file just in case you delete something by mistake.The only way those infections that have been deleted can become active is if you use system restore back to a date where you were previously infected.

If you follow these instructions:

Click start>run>type(or copy/paste command into run box):

ComboFix /u

Click ok.

This will disable/enable system restore,thus removing those files from your system for good.

Thumbs Up Re: Help - Win32:SecBar-B, Win32:Tiny-JC, dday.dll

Salutations TheBruce1

Understood - sorry for the newbie questions. Thanks so much for your help. I have already done the ComboFix / u which has removed ComboFix from my system.

I cannot thank you enough for the prompt professional help you have provided, and as soon as the bank balance allows I will donate.

Very best regards
wildkingcobra
