Re: search-daily.com

Did you remove Combofix yet?
You do not have a windows xp cd either, have you ordered it from Microsoft yet?

This is more of a windows problem than malware and you should have posted your question in our windows xp forum as i have stated previously.

Re: search-daily.com

Ok,good that you have your xp disc as there are two ways to go,recovery console or repair installation.I have never used either of them so unable to tell you which would be the best solution in your circumstances.

Good luck.

Re: search-daily.com

I thought I should update you on my status. I ran the XP disc I had, and it won't let me run a repair. Only install, quit, or run recovery console. And I have stuff I don't want to lose. So it looks like I'm gonna have to buy another HD, install XP, make my current a 2ndary and back everything up onto the new HD.

Re: search-daily.com

I formatted my hd and re-installed everything and it's working fine. As well as Sp2 :). You can go ahead and close this. But before you do, what good programs do you recommend to protect against malware?

Re: search-daily.com

Hi Michael

Glad to hear that you have resolved the problems.Post 35 of this thread lists free antispyware/malware programs,AVG Antispyware and Superantispyware are the two i use for on-demand scans. Each of them come with a 30 day trial of the programme, after the trial finishes you lose the internet shields and the automatic updates, you can update manually.Any infected files found after the trial will still be removed.
search-daily.com

Hope that helps.
