Re: Malware has taken over! Hijackthis logfile follows..

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries (If they still exist, make sure you do not miss any)

O4 - Startup: New Folder

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Delete the following folder

C:\Documents and Settings\Michael Magee\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ New Folder

--------------------------------------------------------------

How is your system behaving?

Re: Malware has taken over! Hijackthis logfile follows..

Fixed (via Hijackthis) and deleted
C:\Documents and Settings\Michael Magee\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\ New Folder

No change in performance. Still using 60-80% of CPU, and System Idle Process is using 40%.

Re: Malware has taken over! Hijackthis logfile follows..

Slowdown grew intolerable, forcing me to reinstall WindowsXP.

Seems to have fixed the problem.

Thanks for the assistance.
