CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Within the last few weeks the task manager will not come up when using ctl alt dlt, in addition certain websites will take extremely long to load and this is even with broadband. I have been running spybot, avg and ad-aware regularly for years and this problem all of a sudden presented itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks so much in advance.

Below is my Panda readout as well as my hijack this readout

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Please follow MicroBell's 5 Step process - http://www.techsupportforum.com/secu...sting-log.html.

You shall have a proper set of logs for us after that. Someone will be along shortly

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

I just reviewed the five steps to make sure I didn't forget any, and the one I forgot was step 5 with Deckards System Scanner. Would it make sense to just do this step now and post my logs again? Or should I start the 5 step process all over?

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Log appears clean but let's do a perfunctory scan

Using Internet Explorer, visit http://www.kaspersky.com/service?chapter=161739400

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
  • The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended
    • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
      • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK & have it scan My Computer
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.

  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

I though I would note that after the 5 step process now 2 of my logon's work fine, it's only one that loads websites slowly and CTL ALT DLT won't work.

I will have to post the Kaspersky results in 2 separate attachments because the file is too large. It says there was one infection found.

Thanks so much for all your help.

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

When you ran ComboFix, was it from that account?

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

When I ran combofix it was from that account. And all of the others steps, that is the main administrator account which is having the problems now.

Would it be wise to run the process on all three log on's separately?

The CTL ALT DLT problem was primarily on the main administrator account, and all were running slowly. Now the others are fine. Or so I believe they are.

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Ermm ...sorry about that. You ran a DSS scan, not a combofix.

Let's see if ComboFix makes a difference

1. Download & Save this file to Desktop -> http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...a/ComboFix.exe

2. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that & a fresh Hijackthis log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Does Ctrl+Alt+Del work for the user - PinkQT now?

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Nope it still doesn't work, it appears for a second then disappears and leaves an imprint on the bottom of the screen. It works on all other log-on's and the internet has now resumed to being actually faster than it was before on that logon.

Would it be best to just delete that log-on??

And should I run the 5 step process on every log-on just to be safe?

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Let's test a theory. I want to see if the same will happen if PinkQT is in safe mode.

If it works in safe mode, that means another program is suppressing it

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

I restarted the PinkQT logon in safe mode and it still would not work, in addition I received the error shown in the attached screen shot even though this logon is the main administrator.

And not that this would mean anything but my spybot in the bottom of my screen says:41,661 processes blacklisted whatever that means.

The malware may have changed PinkQT's user rights. Please check if that's so.

Go to Control Panel > User Accounts

Check if PinkQT is registered as an Admin

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

Sorry for the delayed response I just got off of work.

I went into PinkQt's user account settings and it still lists her as an Administrator. It actually now lists all of the accounts as administrators.

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

That's strange. The screenshot you showed me clearly shows that the user lacked administrative rights.

Rather than waste time searching for the needle within the giant Windows haystack, it may be prudent to create a new userprofile for PinkQt & then copy over her personal files. Keep the old logon for 1-2 months. You never know if you have forgotten some needed files. If all goes well, the old logon may be later removed from Control Panel > User accounts

Re: CTRL ALT DLT won't come up, certain websites load slower

That sounds good, especially since everything else is working fine. I have an external hard drive I can move all of her stuff too.

Just a random question. But how often just for security purposes should I do the 5 step process?

Should I do it on every log-on or since I did it on the PinkQt logon and installed all of those programs would it be wise to make one of the existing logon's the main administrator account and run all of the processes on that log-on?

Thanks so much for all of your help.
