Ultimate Cleaner/Defender problems_2
I seemed to have acquired spyware called ultimate cleaner or ultimate defender. I have red bio hazard wallpaper and continous pop ups that say i've been infected with spyware etc. I've tried running all kinds of things and nothing will get rid of it. Any help will be appreciated and hopefully I've done everything properly. I've attached the main log and wasn't sure if you wanted the extra log. Anyway here it is. Thanks so much! 2

Re: Ultimate Cleaner/Defender problems_2
Before beginning the fix, read this post completely. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.
It is IMPORTANT that you don't miss a step & perform everything in the correct order/sequence. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It seems your version of SmitfraudFix is not the latest. Let's see if we can use the update feature to get the latest version files. Double-click smitfraudfix.exe to start the tool. Select option #4 - Check for Updates by typing 4 and press "Enter" Follow the prompts and make sure your firewall allows access to the internet. Once Update is Complete, Select "Q" to quit SmitfraudFix. If it does not update, do not fret. Simply continue with these next instructions. Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries if they exist (make sure you do not miss any) and click Fix Checked O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {05F79890-CFA6-4D53-87BC-2F390DA6645E} - C:\WINDOWS\bndsrsvk.dll O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {3ADCBC16-19FA-4C59-9C22-E17C71B5FD7A} - C:\WINDOWS\bndsrvqt.dll O3 - Toolbar: The netadv - {ABF529BE-6245-465A-BBD4-238C4EAB0F0A} - C:\WINDOWS\netadv.dll O3 - Toolbar: The netadv - {899B0EF2-E0BE-41BA-BB41-0ABFB232813C} - C:\WINDOWS\netadv.dll O21 - SSODL: msvb - {D90C5DD9-C6D7-4553-9D70-C5D71A70B473} - C:\WINDOWS\msvb.dll O21 - SSODL: sysdx - {D9E5EA86-C7CC-486E-9C50-EDF11F814B9E} - C:\WINDOWS\sysdx.dll O24 - Desktop Component 0: Privacy Protection - file:///C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger\index.htm Close HijackThis now. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Delete these files: C:\WINDOWS\bndsrsvk.dll C:\WINDOWS\bndsrvqt.dll Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe to start the tool. Re: Ultimate Cleaner/Defender problems_2
Hello Billanderson650 -
While the HijackThis log looks better, your SmitfraudFix log is not as expected. It should show items being deleted. The log you've posted is the same as the first one. Did you go into safe mode and run Option 2? Let's try that again, please. You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site. Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter. You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection. The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter". The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows. A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once back in normal Windows: Double-click on SmitfraudFix.exe to start the tool. Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter Answer Yes to the question "Restore Trusted Zone ?" by typing Y and hit Enter. Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run ZonedOut and reinstall the protection. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: Ultimate Cleaner/Defender problems_2
Hello,
Here is my Log file. Sorry on my earlier reply. I had Norton Antivirus running and it was blocking the action script. I told it to allow the script this time. I have not run Hijack because you did not ask me to. My computer is running much better. Nothing seems to be wrong at this time. Re: Ultimate Cleaner/Defender problems_2
That looks good.
It would be prudent to run this online scan to look for remnants our other tools might not see. This will take some time, but it's time well invested. Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also post a new HijackThis log.

Re: Ultimate Cleaner/Defender problems_2
Good job!
Run OTMoveIt, and click on the Cleanup button. Follow the prompts. If you get a warning from your firewall or other security programs regarding OTMoveIt attempting to contact the internet you should allow it to do so. The system may require a reboot to complete this step. Please allow it. Your logs appear clean. You should be good to go. We still have a few items to address. C:\System Volume Information\ is where System Restore's cache is stored. Whatever is in there can't harm you unless you choose to perform a manual restore. Nevertheless, we shall be resetting/clearing the cache in a little while. Reset hidden/system files and folders
Clear & Reset System Restore's Cache
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs if you don't have them already:
Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety.
In light of your recent troubles, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Please take a look at these well written articles If you want to fight back the Malware Writers that have made your life a misery, please take a look here and read what you can do against it. Please respond to this thread one more time so we can mark this thread as resolved.
