Re: Browser hijacker, backdoor.haxdoor, etc
Looks like System Restore is working. You have just reseted the cache & created a new restore point.
Now run C:\Windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe & restore the point that you have just created.

Re: Browser hijacker, backdoor.haxdoor, etc
Did you get the message after rebooting? If so try doing it again but this time, reboot to safe mode.

Re: Browser hijacker, backdoor.haxdoor, etc
I return here this time with success news: My system was restored.
I' got the previous error message after reboot.Computer rebooted and just a few minutes later the error message came. This time it took quite longer for my computer to reboot, as the operation was successful. Sir, I have to mention something here. When I got virus alerts in the system volume information folder, then in sr.sys; I repleced my original sr.sys and cmbatt.sys with another the ones of another computer running xp.Could that be a reason for the failure in normal boot? |

Re: Browser hijacker, backdoor.haxdoor, etc
Is the other machine an XP SP2 machine? If so, there shan't be any problems. Best pay Windows update a visit & get all the necessary fixes.
Now that your system is clean, kindly follow these simple steps in order to keep your computer clean and secure:
Update all these programs regularly. Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released. Follow this list and your potential for being infected again will reduce dramatically. Here are some additional utilities that will further enhance your safety.
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein - http://computercops.biz/postlite7736-.html After doing all these, your system will be optimised against future threats. It's okay to delete the Hijack This folder in a couple weeks if everything is working okay. Have a safe & happy computing day. ![]() Kindly respond to this thread once more so we can mark this thread as resolved.

Re: Browser hijacker, backdoor.haxdoor, etc
Yes, the ones I replaced were from a computer running XP with Sp2.
I'll definitely follow all your instructions step by step. Thank you very much for all your help and time. I appreciate it and am really grateful to you. ![]() With Best Wishes. |
