I think I have Trojan.Vundo...
Ok, well mcAfee says i hvudo virus or something, and it cant delete it, so i continue what im doing but it deletes it suppobibly. Anyway..heres a llogfile...

Please do the following:

Download
Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt and save them so you can post the results in your next reply.

Please perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at
http://www.kaspersky.com/service?chapter=161739400

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
  • The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      Extended
    • Scan Options:
      Scan Archives
      Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK & have it scan My Computer
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply

**Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the license, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

Please post the results from Deckard’s scanner and the results from Kapersky.

You do not need to bump. I receive an email notification with a link to this thread when you respond.

Let's see what this removes and then we will go after the leftovers.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.
  • Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
  • Click the Scan for Vundo button.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
  • You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
  • Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
  • When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.

Ok, I've downloaded a similar vundofx by symentac or something and it didn't work, hopfully this will...:)
and By Hijackthis, you mean the css thingie, that i was told to download in the second post??

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Scan with HijackThis. Place a check against each of the following:

It is looking much better. Still a couple of files need to be deleted.

Also I want to check about something. This entry is a keylogger and can be considered spyware but maybe you installed it to monitor your computer. If you know nothing about this entry, please let me know and we will work on removing it also.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkhh.dll<=file
Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Go to start =>run => type/copy the following ”%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe” /config
Please check Extra Log, check Security Center and click Scan.
Please post (reply) with the results. There should be two windows like before so please post the results from both.

Ok, and McAfee Found a PUP (Potenually unwanted program, or sumthing like that) and its name was Vundo.dll....so i removed it..

AND thank you for that article! My HD REealtek Sound Isn't working, so i downloaded the Program. Thanks.

edit: the sound is working now :P

Oh, and i didn'thave this on the desktop before, but now i have a file called

thumbs.db

there...If i delete it will it do something bad to the system or anything?

Don't worry about the thumbs.db

Your logs appear to be clean except we need to fix your altered Security Center registry settings now.

Open a notepad window by Clicking start -> run -> type notepad
Hit Enter
Paste in the following text in bold into the notepad window:

reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center" /v AntiVirusDisableNotify /t REG_DWORD /D 0 /f
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center" /v FirewallDisableNotify /t REG_DWORD /D 0 /f
reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center" /v FirstRunDisabled

Save the file to your desk top as regrestore.bat by setting the 'Save as type' to "All files".

Once saved, double-click regrestore.bat (gear icon) on your desktop.

If you are prompted “Delete the registry value FirstRunDisabled” reply y for yes.

Now your Security Center settings should be back to normal but let's verify it.

This is assuming that you still have Deckard's System Scanner present on your machine (otherwise you will need to download it again).

Now go to start ->run and copy the following into the box
"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config
and click Ok

Uncheck the main log and check the Extra Log and Security Center and Scan!
You should see an extra.txt window minimized.
Please copy the contents of the extra.txt and post(reply) with the results.

Oops, Sorry for double posting, coudn't find any edit button. I forgot to say I get popups from Mcafee saing ive found PUPs. Like twice a day or something. None yet today though..

Actually they stoped. I got around 5 or 6 of them...but i clicked remove and i don't think they are coming back...

Good Work Jwolfinstein! Your logs are clean. Any more issues? We still have a few items to address.

Empty your recycle Bin now,
and delete the VundoFix tool and the C:\VundoFix Backups
You can also delete Deckard’s System Scanner.

Reset hidden/system files and folders
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
  • Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.

Create a new System Restore point
  • click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter
  • select the System Restore Tab
  • tick on the checkbox - "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
  • click Apply
  • then untick the same checkbox & click OK


Enable Windows Auto Update
  • Go to Start>Run - type wuaucpl.cpl
  • tick on the checkbox - "Keep my computer up to date"
  • Under settings, choose "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify".
  • Click on "OK".

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
    Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions.
    After you have updated, click the button – enable protection for all unprotected items
  • SpywareGuard
    to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • Ad-Aware
    Download and install Ad-Aware. You should use this program to scan your computer on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here
  • IE-SPYAD - IE/Spyad places more than 4000 dubious websites and domains in the IE Restricted list. This severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
    • Download IE-Spyad- Extract the contents to a new folder
      From within the folder, double-click install.bat
      Select Option #2 – Install the new IE-SPYAD list.
      Then return to the main menu.
      Select option #4 – Add the old porn sites domain
  • MVPS HOST FILE
    The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one that will restrict known ad sites form serving you unsolicited advertisements. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is the IP of your local computer.
    • Download Host.zip to your desktop.
    • From your Desktop right-click (hosts.zip) and select:
      Extract All from the menu.
    • Click Next, click Next, select the option:
      "Show Extracted files", click Finish
    • This will open the newly created hosts folder on your Desktop.
    • Double-click on the included mvps.bat file, this will rename the existing HOSTS file to HOSTS.MVP, then it will copy the included updated HOSTS file to the correct location on your machine.
Select one of these, or another of your choice. Do not install more than one antivirus program because they will conflict with each other. It is imperative that you update your antivirus software at least once a week (even more if you wish). If you do not update your antivirus software then it will not be able to catch new malware that may have come out.[/list]
