all instructions have been followed and completed.....just a few questions now..

with all the downloads installed..... how will i be aware of any protections that may occur....will it be hidden or will i get some message that something has blocked...deleted....quarantined...etc;

i have norton antivirus on the puter....AVG was one of the programs you had me install...resident shield and update are not active as directed....will there still be conflicts from these two....

I already have ZoneAlarm installed....but seem to have problems with my settings....is there a forum or place to go to get the proper setup..

which programs do i need to manually run....or is there an option that will allow me setup a scan of their own....

last but not least.... i cannot say thanks enough times for what you have done in ridding my computer of all the problems.... all your work is greatly appreciated and unless it's me it seems like my computer is working at a faster pace when going from one website to another....

This depends on what programs you're referring to. SpywareBlaster, IESpyad work silently. SpywareGuard does also, but has some alerts when changes to the system occur. MVPS hosts file works silently, but you may not be able to get to a site blocked by it, you'll get a "page not found" screen.

No conflict.

I prefer Comodo to ZoneAlarm these days. I find it less troublesome. Our Security and Firewalls forum may be of help. ZA also has their own support forum.

which programs do i need to manually run....or is there an option that will allow me setup a scan of their own....

Please be specific about the programs you're referring to. Most freeware takes manual interaction.

You're welcome. Glad to have helped.

If you have further questions, feel free to ask.

I guess to be a little more specific....from the very beginning i've installed quite a few different program.....

NoLop
Comboscan
HiJackthis
AVG
Bruteforce
ATF Cleaner
Panda Antiscan
Dr. Web Cureit
Smitfraudfix
Kaspersky
Spywareblaster
Spywareguard
Spy ware
Ad-Ware

Of all these...which ones are essential to retain on my computer and which ones can i delete....
of the ones to keep how often should i run them and do they have an option to setup a scheduled scan if be necessary

tks again.....a monetary gratuity will be on it's way to the forum

Remove:

NoLop
Comboscan
HiJackthis
Dr. Web Cureit
Bruteforce
Smitfraudfix

Keep:

AVG Anti Spyware > Update and run weekly
ATF Cleaner > Use as often as you like
Panda Antiscan >> Online scans, update and run once in a while
Kaspersky >> Online scans, update and run once in a while
Spywareblaster > Update and Enable new protections weekly. See this thread:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/arti...ter-guide.html

Spywareguard > Rarely updates, runs in background.

Not sure what these two are?

Spy ware

Ad-Ware (do you mean Ad-Aware? If so, keep, for sure. Update and run weekly)

Of all these...which ones are essential to retain on my computer and which ones can i delete....

As stated, most freeware programs require manual interaction. This means opening the program, updating it, and running the scans.

Hope that helps.

CCleaner is a great tool. I use it and the others I've suggested you keep. Together on the same system, though not all at the same time.
