ibm00001.dll, ibm00002.dll, torpig.a ........
We have had this problem since yesterday and it's driving me crazy! There are 3 main problems that we are encountering:
- Whenever we try to go on MSN Messenger, an error message displays saying "Windows Live Messenger has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" with the following details: AppName: msnmsgr.exe AppVer: 8.0.812.0 AppStamp:44cc1896 ModName: msvcrt.dll ModVer: 7.0.2600.2180 ModStamp:41109752 fDebug: 0 Offset: 00036fa3 Then the program exits. We were using 7.5 yesterday then this morning I upgraded to 8.0 hoping that it may fix the problem, but it's exactly the same. - We have quite a few sites that we log in to on a daily basis. Our cookies are set to block all cookies, but we have a list of cookies that we allow. Those cookies that we allow are the ones that we need for the websites that we have to log in to. Usually, we just needed to enter our login details once, then whenever we visit that site again we are already logged in because we tick the remember me box. Since yesterday however, none of our websites have been recognising the cookies and we are constantly having to login again every time we visit them. - Internet Explorer 6.0 (our main and only browser) and Outlook Express have been functioning way below normal speed. We are on a cable modem that usually loads sites relatively quickly. Since yesterday sites have been taking ages to load, and our e-mails are taking ages to download into our outlook express inbox. I have read the guidelines to follow before I post a hijack this log. I followed all of the guidelines, and we still have all of the above problems. We have installed AVG free and ran it. The two online scans that I used were: eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner and Panda ActiveScan Free online antivirus. Both of them showed that we had a virus of some kind, different in each program. The first program removed almost all of the problems that it said our PC had, except for two that it couldn't. These were: ibm00001.dll - Win32/Anserin!generic infected C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ ibm00002.dll - Win32/Anserin!generic infected C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\ The second program also found this and said that it was a possible virus: Virus:trj/torpig.a Now I am going to post the hijack this log that I just ran in hope that someone may be able to help us with our problems :) Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 9:03:35 PM, on 11/3/2006 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MsMpEng.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgamsvr.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgupsvc.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgemc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cisvc.exe C:\Program Files\ewido anti-malware\ewidoctrl.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\msasvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\tcpsvcs.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\snmp.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsPMSPSv.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cidaemon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe C:\Program Files\WiFiConnector\NintendoWFCReg.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = DellNet By MSN R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = Google R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.telus.net/homepage R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Window Title = Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by TELUS Internet Services R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = 127.0.0.1 O2 - BHO: AcroIEHlprObj Class - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 6.0\Reader\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {53707962-6F74-2D53-2644-206D7942484F} - C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\SDHelper.dll O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [HotKeysCmds] C:\WINDOWS\system32\hkcmd.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Defender] "C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe" -hide O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [REGSHAVE] C:\Program Files\REGSHAVE\REGSHAVE.EXE /AUTORUN O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AVG7_CC] C:\PROGRA~1\Grisoft\AVGFRE~1\avgcc.exe /STARTUP O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [Panda_cleaner] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ActiveScan\pavdr.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\pavdr_actions.sys O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [msnmsgr] "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe" /background O4 - Global Startup: Run Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector Registration Tool.lnk = C:\Program Files\WiFiConnector\NintendoWFCReg.exe O8 - Extra context menu item: &Add animation to IncrediMail Style Box - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\bin\resources\WebMenuImg.htm O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Sun Java Console - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing) O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: @xpsp3res.dll,-20001 - {e2e2dd38-d088-4134-82b7-f2ba38496583} - %windir%\Network Diagnostic\xpnetdiag.exe (file missing) O14 - IERESET.INF: START_PAGE_URL=http://www.telus.net/homepage O16 - DPF: Yahoo! Hi Mary,
Welcome to Tech Support Forums! ![]() I apologize for the delay getting to your log. The helpers here are all volunteers and we have been very busy here lately. If you are still having malware problems, I will be glad to help. I hate to the bearer of bad news but, your log shows a very dangerous Trojan is residing on your PC. Troj/Torpig The Trojan attempts to steal passwords, as well as logging key presses and open window titles to text files and periodically sends the collected information to a remote user via HTTP. The Trojan downloads and executes additional files from a remote site. Configuration files may also be downloaded which define further behaviors. I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or it if it contains any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable, and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation. Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of its backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS. If it were on my PC I would not hesitate for a moment to do so. Please read these for more information: How Do I Handle Possible Identify Theft, Internet Fraud, and Credit Card Fraud? When Should I Format, How Should I Reinstall? Should you decide not to follow that advice, we will of course do our best to clean the computer of any infections that we can see but, as I already stated, we can in no way guarantee it to be trustworthy. Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Please let us know what you have decided to do.

We don't really have anything sensitive on our PC, we keep it all in our heads, thankfully! Seeing as we have lost our OS disk, we can not reinstall it. We have no access to any other PC too.... So could you try to help us in getting rid of the trojan? Thanx

Hi Mary,
![]() OK, let's do this first. We need to disable your Windows Defender real-time protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make. To disable Windows Defender:
NEXT: BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below. Please also print these instructions or copy them to Notepad (or another word processor), and save it for easier reference. This is because we will be in Safe Mode during the fix and you won’t be able to access the Internet to view these instructions. Please download SDFix by AndyManchesta and save it to your desktop. Right-click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All to extract it to its own folder on the desktop. Please then reboot your computer into Safe Mode by doing the following:
Once in Safe Mode, please do the following:

Thanks for helping us! Some of the files that it found were in a "yahroxio" folder. Whenever we run scans it always takes a huge amount of time in that folder, though none of the scans normally come up with anything. It seems kind of suspicious to us because the name of it is a mix of two folders that we have in the same directory - yahoo and roxio. I thought I should mention that.

I see no evidence of an AntiVirus program on your system. This must be resolved. Connecting to the Internet without antivirus protection is a "Welcome" doormat for malware. It can take as little as eight seconds to infect an unprotected computer.
Please download and install this excellent and FREE anti-virus program: Please download Active Virus Shield (powered by Kaspersky) and save it to your desktop.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see you have Ewido installed. Ewido has recently been purchased by Grisoft, makers of AVG Antivirus, and the program is now known as AVG Anti-Spyware. It is essentially the same program with a new paintjob; Ewido currently can still be updated to the newest definitions, but this support will likely not last forever. I recommend you uninstall Ewido, restart your system, then download and install AVG Anti-Spyware. Update it's definitions as directed below, and run a scan where I have it placed in this fix. Download AVG Anti Spyware Use the link at the bottom of the page under "AVG Anti-Spyware Free for Windows" ![]()
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run AVG Anti-Spyware with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed)
Restart in normal mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As to the yahroxio folder, I see that you've had questions about this before at another forums. I can't seem to find much information about this folder name. Let's see what's in there. Go to Start>Run and type cmd then press Enter type the following instruction at the command prompt: dir /s /a "C:\Program Files\Yahroxio" > c:\find.txt & start notepad c:\find.txt You may find it easier to copy/paste it into the command prompt. If you're unfamiliar with this, you can paste into the command prompt by clicking on the upper left icon on the command shell window, referred to as the system menu, and along with Move, Size, and so on, you'll see a sub menu called Edit. Click on that, and you'll find Copy, Paste and other clipboard related commands. Here's a screen shot of what I mean: ![]() A notepad file will open. Paste the contents of that file here.

We downloaded and ran the first one that you said, but when it was done the pc crashed (probably because it took 6hrs to do so we had to leave it on all night?) So I do not have the log for that!
Also, we dont like using avg for personal reasons, so we haven't downloaded that. We are going to use the other program frequently though. The text document created by the command prompt was way too big for me to paste here, so I've uploaded it: http://www.geocities.com/hope_und_faith/thing.txt |

personal reasons aside, AVG A/S is a good tool at ferreting out things an AV program will not. I obviously can't force you to use anything you don't want to, but we use this tool daily and find it very effective.
The PC crashed? As in....what? BSOD? Does it now work? As Sempurna indicated in his original post, the type of malware you've had is often best dealt with by format and clean install. It is what I would do at this point...back up any valued data, format and install clean.

Oh darn it I didn't notice the file was 4mb! Now my website is offline, lol. I uploaded it to a new location:
http://www.filecrunch.com/file/2tr Edit: You posted at the same time as me... We don't have the windows xp disc, we lost it. Our pc is running completely fine now, and we dont use it for anything important. I am just interested in your advice on this yahroxio problem :) Oh, and yeah it was the BSOD. But we just manually restarted and it's fine. Last edited by maryb86; 11-13-2006 at 02:18 PM. |

Let's have a peek:
Please download the Suspicious File Packer http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip Unzip it to the desktop and run it. Paste the following list of bad files into the Suspicious File Packer window: C:\Program Files\Yahroxio\Cache\00000633_4424d3da_00022551Allow SFP to pack the files. This will generate a CAB archive on your desktop. Please submit it to this site http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/subm....php?channel=4 Please include a link to this topic in the message.

Hello, Mary -
Have you had a previous infection, say, in April?
