www.globalecmarket.com popups
Did adaware scan and searched for malware to uninstall, but popups continue whenever I use IE...

Your HJT log appears to be incomplete. When HijackThis opens Notepad with the log, press Ctrl+A to select all, Ctrl+C to copy all, then Ctrl+V to paste all into a thread. Please post a new log.

GLOBALECMARKET popups on IE....
Tried adaware, spybot, ccleaner, etc doesnt work...
This caused by visiting chinese websites, namely sina.net Note: An expert from a previous posting said this is incomplete log, but I run hijackthis and this is what I get when it's complete. Have you been tinkering with HijackThis on your own?
It's most unusual, and rarely seen, for HJT to have no entries past O9. Every XP system runs services, which would be O23 entries, and you show none. Please answer the question, as well as run this tool:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Thanks Tetonbob.
I have done nothing to HJT (just download, save and run to post log). Ok, this is most curious. I have a few questions for you. Sorry in advance for the repetition....
Have you used HJT to set any entries to Ignore? Was this scan taken from Safe mode? Is this the same system as in this thread? Create an uninstall list:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please download this tool > http://www.kztechs.com/sreng/sreng2.zip 1. Extract it to Desktop & double click SREng.exe to run it 2. Select 'Smart Scan' & tick "Verify Digital Signatures" 3. Click on the [Scan] button 4. When finished, click on the [Save Reports] button & save the log to Desktop 5. Attach the log in your next reply. Dont post it. You will have to rename it from SREngLOG.log to SREngLOG.txt

Thanks again,
No, this is a different PC from that thread. The current problem PC is not mine, so I don't know much about it. I'm not advanced HJT user and I don't know what ignore function is. The HJT scan is not done in safe mode. I will get the scans to you asap. PS: Hope you have great New Year and thanks for your help during this time. |

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries if they exist (make sure you do not miss any) and click Fix Checked O2 - BHO: AdPutHelper.AdHelper - {631EDC67-F035-49BA-B8BC-983B474E9BB4} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\AdPutHelper.dll Close HijackThis now. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab: * Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders. * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. * Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types * Click Yes to confirm and then click OK. Delete the following if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\system32\AdPutHelper.dll If it resists deletion, boot to safe mode and delete it from there. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see no evidence of an AntiVirus program on your system. This must be resolved. Connecting to the Internet without antivirus protection is a "Welcome" doormat for malware. It can take as little as eight seconds to infect an unprotected computer. Please download and install this excellent and FREE anti-virus program: Please download Active Virus Shield (powered by Kaspersky) and save it to your desktop.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please perform this general system scan and cleaning to see if anything else is lurking. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download AVG Anti Spyware Use the link at the bottom of the page under "AVG Anti-Spyware Free for Windows" ![]()
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Download and install CleanUp! NOTE: CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Do NOT run this program if you have XP Professional 64 bit edition. If you're unsure please do not run it! If you don't already know, you're probably not using XP64, but you can download & run this tool to find out for sure.....http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...p_whichcpu.exe Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows: Click "Options..." Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!" Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. It may ask you to log-off/reboot at the end, if it does please do so. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run AVG Anti-Spyware with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed)
Restart in normal mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Your version of Spybot Search and Destroy is very outdated. You should uninstall it, and then install the newest version, update it and run a full system scan. Download and install Spybot S&D http://security.kolla.de/. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Now click Mode menu and choose 'Advanced Mode'. Next click on Immunize to your left. Click the Immunize button (green cross) on top to Immunize your computer - you should do this each time there is an update. Do NOT enable Spybot TeaTimer Resident protection at this time. What this will do is monitor any system/registry changes and will ask you for permission to change any of these settings. It may also hinder our fix at this point. You may enable it after the fix is complete. Now click on the 'Spybot-S&D' option on the top left to go back to the main screen. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the 'Fix Selected Problems' button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix http://majorgeeks.com/download4392.html and install it over the current Spybot installation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Also make sure your version of AdawareSE is the latest, and it's definitions are current. The latest version of AdawareSe should say 1.06r in the lower right corner of the program's screen. If it is not, uninstall it, and do this: Download Ad-aware at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware at http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.php#adaware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan

* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open Hijack This and click on 'Do a System Scan and save a Logfile'. Save the log file and post it here. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please return with logs from: AVG Anti-Spyware Panda HJT

Two weeks between replies?
Thought I'd lost you. Glad you completed all the tasks. A few more for you, and some final instructions..... Copy and paste the following into Notepad (don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4): Quote:
![]() Close Notepad. Double click on the delete.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P2P - I see you have P2P software ( BearShare) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information. You don't seem to have a firewall program installed. Using a third party firewall (rather than XP's native firewall) will allow you to give/deny access for applications that want to go online. Select one of these, or another of your choice: . Other than that..... Well done. Your logs are clean. Any more issues? If not you should be good to go. We still have a few items to address. Reset hidden/system files and folders
Create a new System Restore point
Enable Windows Auto Update
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
See this link for a listing of some online antivirus scanners: If you do not have a firewall, here are a few free ones available for personal use: In light of your recent troubles, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections.
