Hiya dagul,

Well, you could try system restore, But, that would mean losing all the data since that time.

Anyway, now that you have AVS installed, Panda is not really necessary. If you want an online scan for a second opinion, both BitDefender and F-Secure are the equal, if not better, than Panda.

I scan with AVS, SUPERAntiSpyware, AVG Anti-Spyware (formerly ewido), GMER, and gmer's catchme.exe regularly. I sometimes scan with Ad-Aware SE and/or Spybot-S&D. I hardly use the online scanners unless I'm bored or something.

Well I will think about the restore some other time. Anyway, so this means that we're done already? Like my system is clean?

I've seen GMER in some sites..Is this helpful? And obviously, I'm still a newbie to this stuff so is this a user-friendly software?

So this are my software removals:

Ad-Aware SE Professional
Spyware Terminator
Spybot Search and Destry
AVS
CCleaner
Zone Alarm Firewall

Is that enough? what do you suggest?

Hiya dagul,

That's plenty good. Just uninstall Spyware Terminator... it used to be on a rogue list. And, I don't trust anything that's been on a rogue list.

GMER is a rootkit scanner. A wonderful and extremely powerful tool. But, not recommended for the normal user. Like HijackThis, it's best used under supervision.

Here are some other tools you might like to consider. I use them all.

SpywareBlaster
This is a great FREE prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
Tutorial: How to use!

IE-SPYAD
This FREE tool puts over 5000 sites in your IE Restricted Zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Tutorial: How to use!

SUPERAntiSpyware
This is another excellent FREE scanner to look for nasties that might be lurking in your system. SUPERAntiSpyware and AVG Anti-Spyware compliment each other very well.
Quick Guide: How to use!

By the way, the experts here have confirmed that it was likely Avast that was blocking Panda. If you've replaced it with AVS, then uninstall Panda, and try to download and scan with it again.

The reason that Panda gets blocked is because its definition files are unencrypted. Security software will pick this up as malware, and stop Panda from running.

Hi dagul,

I'm sorry for my late reply. My ISP has been offline for the last 3 days due to the fact it is a local festive season here. A thousand apologies.

Hmm, it looks like some orphaned registry entries were missed. I wish Panda would show the entries instead of just telling us that the exist. Oh, well, let's do the RegSrch thing again.

Please run the Registry Search Tool:
  • In the dialog that opens enter the following:

    dollarrevenue

  • Press OK
  • The search will run for a while, then alert you when it is finished.
  • Press OK and copy the contents of the WordPad window and post in this thread.

Then please do the same as above for these next entries:

wupd

media-motor

ieplugin

sahagent

Hiya dagul,

OK, let’s do this next.

Please open Notepad and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below (don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4 as well):

Code:
REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1946512193-757260885-1802129981-1006\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\dollarrevenue.com]

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1946512193-757260885-1802129981-1006\Software\Yahoo\companion\SearchHistory]
"t07"=-

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1946512193-757260885-1802129981-1006\Software\Yahoo\companion\SearchHistory]
"t14"=-

[-HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1946512193-757260885-1802129981-1006\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains\ieplugin.com]

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1946512193-757260885-1802129981-1006\Software\Yahoo\companion\SearchHistory]
"t16"=-
Save this as fix.reg and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

It should look like this:

Double-click on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click "Yes" or "OK". You should receive a message that it was successful.

In case you still are unsure on how to create a REG file, please take a look HERE with screenshots.

Let me know what else Panda picks up. I think some of the RegSrch entries are legit and therefore could be false positives from Panda.

Hiya dagul,

Panda is of no help with this. Let's do this scan and see if it picks up anything.

Please download and install SUPERAntiSpyware
  • Load SUPERAntiSpyware and click the Check for Updates button.
  • Once the update has finished, click the Scan your Computer button.
  • Check Perform Complete Scan and then click Next.
  • SUPERAntiSpyware will now scan your computer, and when it’s finished it will list all the infections it has found.
  • Make sure that they all have a check next to them, and then click Next.
  • Click Finish and you will be taken back to the main interface.
  • It could be possible that it will ask you to reboot your computer in order to delete some files after reboot.
  • I'll need a log afterwards of what has been found.
  • To get the log, click Preferences and then click the Statistics/Logs tab. Click the dated log and press View Log and a text file will appear.
  • Please post the results of the SUPERAntiSpyware log and a new HijackThis log in your next reply.

Hi dagul,

I’m sorry for my late reply. ISP acting up again.

What Panda found are again most likely orphaned registry entries. These are harmless by themselves. Since Panda doesn’t point out the registry entries themselves, we can’t do much about those.

Hmm, I don’t think there are any rootkits in your system. If there were any, the F-Secure online scan that you did would have picked it up. If you want, we can do other rootkit scans to make sure.

Before we do that, please run HijackThis and fix these entries:

O16 - DPF: {E473A65C-8087-49A3-AFFD-C5BC4A10669B} (Quantum Streaming IE Player Class) - http://mvnet.xlontech.net/qm/fox/060...ie06071909.cab
O20 - Winlogon Notify: WRNotifier - WRLogonNTF.dll (file missing)

NEXT:

Let’s run a few deep diagnostic scans to make sure nothing else is lurking in your system.

Please download SilentRunners and save it to your desktop:
  • Unzip it (extract) to the desktop and double-click on it.
  • If you get any kind of warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
  • When the scan is finished, a message will pop up and a logfile will have been created on the desktop. Please post the entire contents of this logfile for me to see.

NEXT:

Please download and save F-Secure BlackLight to your desktop.
  • Double-click blbeta.exe then accept the agreement.
  • Click Scan -> Next.
  • After the scan you'll see a list of all items found. Please click Next and then Exit. Do NOT choose rename for any items yet! I need to see the log first, because legitimate items can also be present there...
  • A log will be created on your desktop with the name fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (the xxxxxxx are numbers)
  • Please post the contents of the log in your next reply.

NEXT:

Please download GMER and save it to your desktop:
  • Unzip (extract) it to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from Internet and close all running programs.
  • There is a small chance this application may crash your computer so save any work you have open.
  • Double-click gmer.exe to run it.
  • Let the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • If it gives you a warning at program start about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a scan... click NO.
  • Click the Rootkit tab.
  • Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for "Show All".
  • Then click the Scan button. Wait for the scan to finish.
  • Once done, click the Copy button.
  • This will copy the results to the clipboard. Open Notepad and press CTRL + V to paste the log, and save it to your desktop. Paste the results in your next reply.

If you're having problems with running gmer.exe, try it in Safe Mode.
This tool works in Safe Mode… other rootkit revealers don't.

NEXT:

Please download catchme.exe by gmer and save it to your desktop:
  • Double-click catchme.exe to run it.
  • When it finishes it will create a report, catchme.txt, located on your desktop.
  • Please copy and paste that report in your next reply.

NEXT:

Please REBOOT your computer normally into Windows and post these logs in your next reply:
  1. The log from the SilentRunners scan.
  2. The log from the BlackLight scan.
  3. The log from the GMER scan.
  4. The log from the catchme.exe scan.
  5. A new HijackThis log.

Also, please let me know how things are running now and if you encountered any problems while you were following the directions I posted.

Hey Sempurna! Don't worry about that. The important is we still keep in touch. Anyway, here are the logs you need. For the FSecure and catchme, it didn't find any but i will post the log though. Maybe you will need it. The FSecure saved a .txt file not .log file

Hiya dagul,

You're most welcome, dagul.

The logs appear to be clean. No rootkits or hidden processes present in your system. If you can live with the orphaned registry entries that Panda finds, you should be good to go.

Without greater details from Panda, it is difficult to know which registry entries to delete. If we delete the wrong one, that could really screw up your system. So, I'm leaning towards leaving those alone as they are harmless.

Oh alright. I remember I had an adware savenow and the girl who was helping me can't rid of it also and after I think weeks it was gone.

Anyway, so this is all good now? Like it will not harm my system if they stay in there?

Btw, happy halloween!
