Can you try Panda again? I believe it's up and running now. I just did a scan, and it was working.

Hi sempurna,

I was browsing some sites and I came to this site where in one member has the same problem as mine. And one member told this person to e.g. turn of the firewall as it may block active x or something. Do you think that would work? I have a zone alarm turned on all the time and since I installed that firewall, I haven't used Panda so I was thinking it was affected. By the way, I tried the link and it's still the same. It's not working.

Hi dagul,

Yes, ZoneAlarm might do that. Or even your Avast. Or Windows Defender.

Try disabling ZA (temporarily) and see if you can use Panda. If that doesn't work, then disable Avast (temporarily) and try Panda again. Do the same for Windows Defender.

If the above didn't work, then please try this next.

Please open Notepad and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below (don't forget to copy and paste REGEDIT4 as well):

Code:
REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{9a9307a0-7da4-4daf-b042-5009f29e09e1}]
Save this as fix.reg and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

It should look like this:

Double-click on it and when it asks you if you want to merge the contents to the registry, click "Yes" or "OK". You should receive a message that it was successful.

In case you still are unsure on how to create a REG file, please take a look HERE with screenshots.

REBOOT afterwards.... really important!

Then try Panda again. Let's see if this works.

OK, this could be due to your browser security settings. Go into IE, click the Tools menu, scroll down to Internet Options, click the Security tab, and set all the settings there to default (for Internet, Local intranet, Trusted sites, Restricted sites).

Hi dagul,

Let me ask the other helpers what could be the problem here. It could be Avast is stopping it.

Hi dagul,

You're most welcome, dagul. No trouble at all.

OK, another helper has suggested that you uninstall Panda ActiveScan via Add/Remove Programs, then fix this next entry with HijackThis:

O16 - DPF: {9A9307A0-7DA4-4DAF-B042-5009F29E09E1} (ActiveScan Installer Class) - http://acs.pandasoftware.com/actives...ree/asinst.cab

Then, try to download and run Panda. Let me know how this goes.

Hey Sempurna,

I didn't find that entry in HiJackThis. I already removed it in add/remove programs

Hi dagul,

Could you try Panda again?

The only things that could be stopping you doing a scan at Panda is the security software on your system. You can do a Kaspersky and BitDefender scan, so they are not blocking those.

It would be not advisable to uninstall your security software to see which one is blocking Panda. Since you can do online scans at BitDefender and Kaspersky, those are pretty excellent online scanners.

If you'd like a third online scanner as an option, this is also a good one:

CLICK HERE to use the F-Secure Online Scanner:
  • Click the "F-Secure Online Scanner Next Generation Beta" link.
  • When prompted, choose to install the software.
  • After the software has installed, click "Accept".
  • Click "Custom Scan" and check the option for "Scan inside archives", then click "Start".
  • The necessary scanner components and databases will then be downloaded, and the scan will then start automatically. Please be patient as this scan will take a while to complete.
  • If any infections are found then once the scan has finished the "Cleaning" screen will be displayed. Click the "Automatic cleaning (recommended)" button.
  • It could be possible that your firewall gives an alert - allow it, because that's a connection you establish to submit infected files to F-Secure.
  • After cleaning has finished, then the "Finish" screen will be displayed. Click the "Show Report" button.
  • In order to post the report, press CTRL + A on your keyboard to highlight all the text. Then copy and paste that information into this thread, along with a new HijackThis log.

I tried scanning again and this what came out..i disabled avast for a while because again it detected as a virus/worm..

Possible causes of this error are:

Not allowing the application's ActiveX control to be downloaded.

Problems with the Internet connection.

The error could be due to a download error or an installation error due to lack of hard disk space, privileges etc.,...

ok i will try that one..thanks!

Hi dagul,

Your system is clean as a whistle.

Yep, it looks like Avast is somehow interfering with Panda. Would you like to replace Avast with a better FREE anti-virus? It is currently ranked #2 in the latest AV testing done here:

Hi dagul,

Sorry for the late reply. My Internet connection has been down for the last 36 hours or so.

Yep, that's the one. Here are the general instructions on how to install it:

Please download Active Virus Shield (Powered by Kaspersky) and save it to your desktop.
  • Please remember to register for your Activation Code using a legitimate email address.
  • Double-click avs.msi to run the installer, but please uncheck "Install Security Toolbar" during the installation process:

  • Then please update the program and run a systemwide scan. Allow it to neutralize all that it finds.
  • When done, launch Active Virus Shield's main window.

  • Click the Scan button on the left, and then click Detected.

  • In the ensuing window, click the Save As button to save a copy of the log.
  • Copy and paste that log in your next reply.

Note: You must only use 1 (one) AV at a time because if you have 2 or more AVs running at the same time, they will conflict with each other and make your security less reliable.

NEXT:

Please reboot your computer normally into Windows, and then please post the log from the Active Virus Shield scan and a new HijackThis log.

How are things running now?

hey! no worries..

anyway, do I have to scan all of the entries under protection and also do i need to scan critical areas, my computer, and startup objects? IS that the systemwide scan you're talking about?
