Hello and welcome to TSF

Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of replies as soon as they are posted. To do this click Thread Tools,
then click Subscribe to this Thread. Make sure it is set to Instant Notification, then click Subscribe.

Please read this post completely before begining the fix. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding.
Please ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this
webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T MISS A STEP & PERFORM EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT ORDER.

----------------------------------------

You are currently running 2 Anti Virus programs (AVG and Norton) While it may seem to be added protection for you, more than 1 Anti Virus can cause
conflicts and confusion between the AV programs as well as system instability and slow downs.
Please choose and run only 1 and uninstall the other via Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs.

----------------------------------------

CLEANUP! – TEMP FILE CLEANING

Please check your version of Cleanup. The newest version is 4.52. If this is current, skip the download instructions, otherwise uninstall the
current program and:

Please download Cleanup! and install it. You will use this later.

*NOTE* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temporary folders and does not make backups.

WARNING:Do NOT run this program if you have XP Professional 64 bit edition. If you're unsure please do not run it!
You can download & run this TOOL to find out for sure.

Please download Ewido Anti-Malware
  1. Install Ewido Anti-Malware.
  2. Double-click the icon on Desktop to launch Ewido
  3. On the top of the main screen click Shield
  4. Click the word active to change it to inactive
  5. On the top of the main screen click Update.
  6. Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  7. I also recommend changing the "Update interval" to something more reasonable like 12 hours.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido.
When you have finished updating, EXIT Ewido.

----------------------------------------

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list).
In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

----------------------------------------

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries (If they still exist, make sure you do not miss any)

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = \blank.htm
O18 - Protocol: bw+0 - {E424D21F-CED7-4FD1-97A7-F384BC687155} - C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BWPlugProtocol-8876480.dll

NOTE: Delete all 018 Logitech entries except the first one

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked.

----------------------------------------

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:

Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files (if present)
  • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click on the Temporary Files tab and uncheck the box for Scan drives for files matching if it’s checked.
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program and DO NOT reboot when prompted.

EWIDO
  • Run Ewido with it's updated definitions: (...it's important that all windows must be closed)
This scan can take quite a while to run, so be prepared.
  • Click Scanner
  • Click on the Scan tab
  • Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
  • When the scan is complete click Recommended Action and change it to Quarantine.
  • Then click Apply all actions.

Once finished, click the Save report button, then click Save Report As and save it to your desktop.

----------------------------------------

Reboot into Normal Mode.

----------------------------------------
Please return and post these logs:

Panda scan which you previously completed
Ewido scan
A new HJT Log

Hi redice,

No, the report is not attached. Please allow me to explain the procedure.

When you click the 'Reply' button, scroll below the white text writing box and you'll see 'Manage Attachments'. Click that button, then 'browse' to where you have the reports saved. Double click on your file once you find it, and the full path will show up in the 'Upload file from computer' field. Now click 'Upload'.

Let's try zipping them up and attaching the zipped folder:

Right click the Ewido report and select ’Send To’
Now select ’Compressed (zipped) folder’

Repeat the above steps for the Panda report.

Now, go to Manage Attachments and browse to those zipped folders, and upload them one at a time.

If is still fails, please tell me where you have the reports saved.

You're system is bloated with Spyware Cookies. These must be cleaned out for privacy and better performance

----------------------------------------

Clear Mozilla Firefox cookies:
Open the Mozilla Browser, (you do not need to be online to do this) Click Tools>Options>Privacy>Cookies>Clear

----------------------------------------

Empty the contents of this folder: C:\RECYCLER\NPROTECT

IMPORTANT: DO not delete the NPROTECT folder just what's inside it.

----------------------------------------

F-Secure Online Scanner

Click here to use the F-Secure Online Scanner
It's explained there with images how to allow the ActiveX to start the scan, so read that first.
  • Then click the F-Secure Online Scanner Next Generation Beta link.
  • Once the ActiveX is installed, you should accept the License terms by clicking OK below to start the scan.
  • Click the Full System Scan button.
  • It will start to download scanner components and databases. This can take a while.
  • The main scan will start.
  • Once the scan finished scanning, click the Automatic cleaning (recommended) button
  • It could be possible that your firewall gives an alert - allow it, because that's a connection you establish to submit infected files to F-Secure.
  • The cleaning can take a while, so please be patient.
  • Then click the Show report button and copy and paste what's present under results in your next reply.

----------------------------------------

Please return and post these logs:

F-Secure results
A new HJT log run in normal mode

Please let me know how your system is behaving

OK, it's in there. Try this:

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab:
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types
* Click Yes to confirm and then click OK.

Try and find the C:\Recyler\Nprotect.

If you still can't find it, proceed with the rest of the fix.
