ad.yieldmanager issues

hello,

I performed several scans and followed the directions for spyware and trojan removal. It worked wonderful. So far I only had problems when visiting one website and not any others so maybe I caught this early.

I think for the most part my spybot scan took care of most everything. Although I don't know what to do with it now that it blocked everything. I don't know if it cleaned or if its still there and just blocked (immunized). I'm not sure how to find out.

I did a windows defender scan - with no result. Lastly, I did a hijackthis scan and here is the result. Could you tell me if there is anything more I should be concerned about or is everything really gone. And can you tell me how or if there is anything I should do after using the immunize feature on spybot.

Go to My Computer >Tools >Folder Options >View tab and select Show hidden files and folders. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option. Also make sure there is no checkmark beside Hide file extensions for known file types. Click OK.

HJT IN TEMPORARY DIRECTORY

You are running Hijack This from a temporary directory. It needs to be in a permanent folder. Please go into Windows Explorer, click on C: then click on File > New > Folder and call it HJT , or another name of your choice. The program creates backup files that we may need to use later. If the program is in a Temporary folder, files may be deleted by you or automatically if your system is set to empty temp files.

Download and install CleanUp! but do not run it yet.

*WARNING* Cleanup deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders and does not make backups.

Download Ewido Anti-Malware

• Install Ewido Anti-Malware
• Double-click the icon on Desktop to launch Ewido

You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the top of the main screen click Shield
• Click the word active to change it to inactive
• On the top of the main screen click Update.
• Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido

• Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
• Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
• Under "Reports"
  • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
  • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"

When you have finished updating, EXIT Ewido anti-spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

DISABLE ANTISPYWARE PROTECTION

Please disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection, as it may hinder the removal of some entries.

• Open Windows Defender.
• Click on Tools, General Settings.
• Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
• After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.

SAFE MODE

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries (make sure you do not miss any)

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu). Set the program up as follows:
*Click "Options..."
*Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
*Put a check next to the following:

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users
• Click on the “Temporary Files” and uncheck the box for “Scan drives for file matching” if it’s checked.

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program. DO NOT reboot/logoff when prompted.

Run Ewido with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed)

• Click Scanner
• Click on the Scan tab
• Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.
  Once the scan is complete do the following:
• If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
• Once finished, click the Save report button, then click Save Report As and save it to your desktop. (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).

Restart in normal mode.

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan

Click on the "Free To Use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner

1. Click Check Now and a "pop up" window will appear. * Please ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it *
2. Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click Scan Now * The download of the 8 MB Panda's ActiveX control will take place *

Begin the scan by selecting My Computer

• If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
• Please ignore any entry it finds and the offer to buy the program to remove the entry, as we will address this later.
• Click on See report then click Save report

* You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

Paste the Panda Scan report here together with a new HiJackThis log and Ewido's log.

Hello, thanks for your time and effort. I'm sure looking at script everyday gets kinda boring. But I am sure glad there are people out there like your team who does this.

The Panda scan did not find any incidents so there is no report from there.

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.

• The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
• Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:

  • Scan Options:
    • Scan Archives
    • Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK & have it scan My Computer

My computer seems to be running very well - thank you so much for your help. I hope this website never goes away. I plan on keeping the link for this site and recommending anyone i know who has a problem to visit. This is really a great team. My most favorite part is the step by step instructions. It really does make everything easy.

After turning off the spybot (actually I had it inactive/exited the program but I guess it was still running the IE protection in the background) I ran cleanup! I was so amazed at how many files were cleaned. Initially 6 files were cleaned and the rest were cleaned on reboot but it was more than 8,500 mostly temp files. I clean my computer often - at least once a day before I go to bed so I start a fresh day when I start up my computer again. You can imagine my surprise. I saved the report before I restarted the computer if you would like to see it.

Well done. Your system is clean!

You may now re-enable any antispyware protection that you have.

• Click Start.
• Open My Computer.
• Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
• Select the View tab.
• Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
• Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
• Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
• Click Yes to confirm.
• Click OK.

To turn off System Restore click Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties. Click the System Restore tab and Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this then Click OK.

Turn on System Restore by Clicking Start. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives." Click Apply, and then OK.

This will create a new Restore Point.

This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read TonyKlein's How Did I Get Infected In The First Place?. You need an antivirus that is continually updated, a good firewall, a spyware blocker such as Spyware Blaster, and a real time spyware program such as Spyware Guard, to prevent spyware intrusions. IE-Spyad is another excellent program that places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list, which will help prevent attempts to infect your system. All of the above have good free versions available. However, be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them.

my computer is functioning normally again! Thank you so much. I don't expect to have any further problems but if I do I will let you know. I think I found the problem if you want to check into it.

I recently downloaded a telephony service called Globe7. It has online tv and all sorts of things. I think it may have added some other things to my computer. I removed the program as I really don't need it, I know this is the only thing that has been downloaded recently.
