I am having problems running the Kasperspy scan. When I run it, it gets to about 5% completed and then my machine just shuts down. I don't know whether or not this had anything to do with any infection I have? Probably not. It does however report that 2 viruses and 3 infected files have been found before my machine shuts.
Shall I post a new HJT log now anyway? |

Please repeat the instructions in post #18 regarding Regsearch.
Post the logs for sertgs and sertgm that are produced. ----------------- Please download the trial version of Ewido anti-malware from here: http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido. Ewido manual updates. Make sure to close Ewido before installing the update. ---------------- Reboot into Safe Mode as described earlier. ---------------- Close ALL open Windows / Programs / Folders. Please start Ewido, and run a full scan.
Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save Report.
------------------- Post Ewido's log and the logs from Regsearch with a new HJT log. How is the system performing generally?

EWIDO
Please configure Ewido as follows. The speech I posted is now different because the version of Ewido has recently been updated. Because of this, the infected files weren't dealt with properly.
When you have finished updating, EXIT Ewido. ------------------------ REGFIX Download the attached file. Unzip it and double-click the reg file inside it. When asked whether you would like to merge with the registry, say Yes. ------------------------ SAFE MODE Reboot into Safe Mode as described earlier. ----------------------- FILE DELETIONS Delete the following file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ qz.sys ------------------------- EWIDO Run Ewido with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed)
Reboot into Normal mode. ------------------------- REGSEARCH Run RegSearch again as you have done previously and post the logs produced for sertgs and sertgm. ------------------------- Post Ewido's log, a new HJT log and the RegSearch logs.

Please post a HJT log as requested.
If this log comes back clean, I am satisifed that we have removed the infection that was causing your problems. Please let me know how the system is performing.

You have picked up another infection.
Please disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection, as it may hinder the removal of some entries.
Please disable Ewido Security Suite's Guard, as it may hinder the removal of some entries. You can re-enable it after you're clean.
------------------ You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix. Please download FixWareout from one of these sites: http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...Fixwareout.exe Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal. Once the desktop loads a text file will open (report.txt), you can close it - the file has already been saved. Open Hijack This and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries if found (make sure you do not miss any) O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{D8B1E676-E53E-492C-A5C4-240B3368DF39}: NameServer = 85.255.116.125 85.255.112.109 Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked. Close HijackThis. Finally, please post the contents of the text file that opened earlier (you can find it at C:\fixwareoutreport.txt), along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Well done. Your system is clean!
You may now re-enable any antispyware protection that you have.
------------------------- To turn off System Restore click Start > Right Click My Computer > Properties. Click the System Restore tab and Check "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives" Click Apply. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this then Click OK. Turn on System Restore by Clicking Start. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. Click the System Restore tab. Uncheck "Turn off System Restore" or "Turn off System Restore on all drives." Click Apply, and then OK. This will create a new Restore Point. -------------------------- This is a good time to set up protection against further attacks. Read TonyKlein's How Did I Get Infected In The First Place?. You need an antivirus that is continually updated, a good firewall, a spyware blocker such as Spyware Blaster, and a real time spyware program such as Spyware Guard, to prevent spyware intrusions. IE-Spyad is another excellent program that places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list, which will help prevent attempts to infect your system. All of the above have good free versions available. However, be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them.
