Trojan.zlob and possibly puper help needed
I was hit a few day ago with the Trojan.zlob, as identified by my McAfee. It stated that it had found four pups, none of which it could delete as they were 'write protected'. Also, a few icons were added to my desktop, basically along the lines of a security suite. Also, my home page was redirected as well. Stupidly, I used system restore to go back to a point a couple of days earlier. After that, I ran a few scans and nothing was found.
However, after being directed to this site I have booted in safe mode and followed all of the steps listed MicroBell's post. Upon running McAfee, two puper trojans were found and supposedly cleaned. Everything else came up empty, but I am obviously worried and have no idea on how to read my HJT log file, which follows below. When, if ever, should I turn it back one? Thanks much. |

I need you to do a few things.
First, turn System Restore back on now. You need a new Restore Point as a fallback position. Second: Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri) Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop. Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter" and a text file will appear which lists infected files (if present). Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply. IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other option until you are directed to do so! Third, post a new HJT log, and be sure it's from Normal Mode, as it appears this one may have been taken from Safe Mode.

Once you turn System Restore off, it will (or should) purge all Restore Points, leaving you with none.
Just turn it on.

Ok, I'm seeing no active infections. To be sure McAfee got it all, please run one or both of these online scans:
Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan Click on the "Free To Use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner
--------------------------------------------------- Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
