AboutBuster

yesterday, after a long & frustrating running battle with coolwebsearch, i chose to reformat & reinstall windows....right back to the factory status.......i have spent all day reloading my favourite & some new recommended security programs.....when i downloaded & installed AboutBuster, i got a security warning from SpyBot......i scanned with both Spybot & Adaware.....found i had Alexa on my system plus 5 tracking bots.......i didnt think it was AboutBuster but uninstalled it just in case....cleaned the system, then downloaded AboutBuster again....same thing happened....***?????has anyone else experienced this?????

Hi there

I suggest you uninstall About Buster for the time being. You can discuss it's merits with one of the technical guys here if you like but I don't recall seeing a large number of folks in this forum using it. Everyone around here pretty much uses Spybot, Spyguard, Adaware etc. If you don't have CWShredder and Hijack this, click on the link below and download them. Run CWShredder and Hijack this. Come back and post the log from Hijack this in here. I'm sure one of the Techies will analyse it and get you sorted out.

Let me know if you get sorted out

Aaah my apologies then, it seems I missed the point. I personally have never used AboutBuster so I have no experience with it.

AboutBuster is really a "tech tool". There is no reason for you to have it on your system once you've been cleaned up.

There areportions of the program that contain bits of CWS, for recognition, I think, and it will set off other security programs.

Just uninstall it and you should be fine.
