Browser and Computer problem?

All of a sudden I am having trouble viewing several webpages and I believe a couple other things are keeping my computer from running smoothly. It freezes often. I ran mcafee, spybot, and adaware. They found some things but I think some things may still be wrong. I am posting my log via steps provided by tech support forums. I was unable to run gmer.exe. I tried three times. Half way through the gmer scan my computer gets the blue screen of death and it restarts. Please help. Thank you.

Re: Browser and Computer problem?

Hi -

I'd like to try to get a log from GMER

Let's try this version of gmer.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here to your desktop.
  • Double click the exe file.
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO, then use the following settings for a more complete scan.

Click the image to enlarge it

  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
  • Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and post it in reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

If still no joy, uncheck Devices also. (but only if needed). If that still doesn't allow a scan to complete, run GMER in safe mode.

To get into Safe Mode

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.
