Problem installing some exe files

Hi All,

My PC was infected with what is commonly called the NewFolder.exe virus. (It's the one that creates a <foldername>.exe file inside every folder, disables your task manager and Tools -> folders option and disabled regedit). I scanned my PC using Avast - which detected and deleted several autorun.inf files and some chrome.exe files. Then I deleted all the hidden <foldername>.exe files manually.
Everything seemed fine and I installed XP once again after formatting my C drive - but after I checked through some other files and drives - to my utter disappointment - I found that my task manager was once again disabled and I can't open regedit. I tried to scan my entire PC using a recent Avast - but I'm not able to execute the setup.exe. It simply stops installation after 10 - 15 secs. This happens with some other exes as well - like spybot or AVG anti virus.
Can someone please let me know what is wrong with my system and how to correct it? Thanks a lot in advance!!
