Maq2000

PLLLLLEEEZZZEEEE help me out. I have several files that keep requesting internet access but everytime I block access it cause my comp to shut down.
Everytime I run a virus scan more stuff is found. Whatever the problem is has caused my comp to slow down to where is can't tell whether its breathing or not and I cannot get access to the internet anymore.

Use Internet Explorer to download ATF-I get an error when I use Firefox.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

• Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
• Under Main choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

• Click Firefox at the top and choose:Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.
• NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click
• No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser

• Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
• Click the Empty Selected button.
• NOTE:If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

STEP 1.

Stop and Disable Service

• Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then cllick OK
• Click the Extended tab.
• Scroll down until you find Boonty Games - BOONTY
• Click once on the service to highlight it.
• Click Stop
• Right-Click on the service.
• Click on 'Properties'
• Select the 'General' tab
• Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box
• From the drop-down menu, click on ‘Disabled'
• Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'

The service is now stopped and disabled.

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

Please download AVG Anti-Spyware from HERE
and save that file to your
desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program

1. Once you have downloaded ewido anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop
   and double-click it to launch the set up program.
2. Once the setup is complete you will need run ewido and update the definition files.
3. On the main screen
   • select the icon "Update"
   • then select the "Update now" link.
   • Next select the "Start Update" button,
   the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
4. Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of
   the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
5. Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then
   select ""Quarantine".".
6. Under "Reports"
   • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
   • Un-Select "Only if threats were found
   "

Close AVG Anti-Spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

1. Reboot your computer into SafeMode. You can do this by restarting
   your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears.
   Use your up arrow key to highlight SafeMode then hit enter.
   IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or
   programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
2. Lauch ewido-anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
3. Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab
   then click on "Complete System Scan".
4. AVG Anti-Spyware will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
   Once the scan is complete do the following:
5. If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all
   actions"
6. Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
7. Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the
   screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where
   you saved that file, this is important).
8. Close AVG Anti-Spyware and reboot your system back into Normal Mode.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and the results from AVG anti-spyware.

Hi Susan528, thanks for the assistance.
I was able to do everything you asked but d/l the AVG Anti-Spyware.
That computer does not have computer access since I blocked access for the file svehost.com. I do not know what happened. I have attempted to resolve the problem but the file created some time of connection problems.

I did previously d/l and install the AVG virus software per lobby instructions and provide a log of that if necessary.
Right now I am transferring files using a store-n-go card.

Here is the latest Hijack log. As I mentioned earlier I cannot post a AVG Anti-Spyware log as I cannot d/l the file.

Hi Maq2000,

Sorry about the loss of your internet connection.

On your computer without the internet connection, you can try this:

Go to Start=>run=>type cmd in the box
Copy and paste the following into new window that opens.
netsh winsock reset

See if that fixes your internet connection.

If that fails please do this:
With a computer that has an internet connection go to the following link:

There is a “Guided Help for another computer that does not have a working Internet connection” that you can download and transfer to your computer. Please do that and let me know if you have gotten your internet connection back.

Deckard’s System Scanner

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

1. Close all applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post. in your reply

Well done. Your logs are clean. Any more issues? If not you should be good to go. We still have a few items to address.

Empty your Recycle Bin now.

Reset hidden/system files and folders

• Click Start.
• Open My Computer.
• Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
• Select the View tab.
• Deselect the Show hidden files and folders option.
• Select the Hide file extensions for known types option.
• Select the Hide protected operating system files option.
• Click Yes to confirm.
• Click OK.

Create a new System Restore point

• click Start >> Run - type SYSDM.CPL & press Enter
• select the System Restore Tab
• tick on the checkbox - "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
• click Apply
• then untick the same checkbox & click OK

Enable Windows Auto Update

• Go to Start>Run - type wuaucpl.cpl
• tick on the checkbox - "Keep my computer up to date"
• Under settings, choose "Automatically download the updates, and install them on the schedule that I specify".
• Click on "OK".

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:

• SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  Install & update SpywareBlaster with the latest definitions.
  After you have updated, click the button – enable protection for all unprotected items
• SpywareGuard
  to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
• Ad-Aware
  Download and install Ad-Aware. You should use this program to scan your computer on a regular basis just as you would an antivirus software in conjunction with Spybot. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here
• IE-SPYAD - IE/Spyad places more than 4000 dubious websites and domains in the IE Restricted list. This severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
  • Download IE-Spyad- Extract the contents to a new folder
    From within the folder, double-click install.bat
    Select Option #2 – Install the new IE-SPYAD list.
    Then return to the main menu.
    Select option #4 – Add the old porn sites domain
• MVPS HOST FILE
  The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one that will restrict known ad sites form serving you unsolicited advertisements. Basically, this prevents your computer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is the IP of your local computer.
  • Download Host.zip to your desktop.
  • From your Desktop right-click (hosts.zip) and select:
    Extract All from the menu.
  • Click Next, click Next, select the option:
    "Show Extracted files", click Finish
  • This will open the newly created hosts folder on your Desktop.
  • Double-click on the included mvps.bat file, this will rename the existing HOSTS file to HOSTS.MVP, then it will copy the included updated HOSTS file to the correct location on your machine.
