How can I get rid of this trojan/virus?
Hi guys!
Recently my laptop got infected by something and a little help to get rid of it would be very much appreciated! The story goes like this: I downloaded something and one of the files in the keygen directory was called "x-force generator.exe". I got a bit skeptical and scanned the file with Norton 360 but nothing was found, so unfortunately I pushed my luck and executed it. Nothing happened so I opened the task manager and saw a process running that was called x-force (or sumthin' like that). I decided to check back and delete the file and - surprise, surprise- it has disappeared along with the process in the task manager. Well so I decided to check out Norton's security-history to see if it detected something. Sure enough it did, but it wasn't smart enough to stop anything. Stoopid piece of s*it. Anyway a file called x-force generator.exe made two changes to some recources namely: c:\users\myname\appdata\local\tvimryupug.tmp & c:\users\myname\appdata\local\bnywssqocw.tmp Approximately an hour later as well as the day after the incident, the security history shows about 6 instances where presumably this virus tried to create some files - all of which got blocked thankfully. But after that my security history is virtually cluttered with connection-attempts that get prevented by the firewall. They literally take place 2-3 times a minute every minute the laptop is working, whether I'm online or not! First I thought this thing tries out all ports to find something it can pass through and once it's successful I'm done for, but it turns out that it always tries to make the same connection: (Translated from German) Blocking of unused port blocked communication. Incoming TCP-connection. Remote-Adress, local service: (192.168.178.1, Port (14013)) (I don't have a fixed IP, so I changed it, but this doesn't help) I also tried to google for "x-force generator" but all the results are links to torrents and other vermin where you can download this little rat. So, anyone got an idea how to get rid of the little *******? Is there some tool that might be able to sniff it out and fix it? 2-3 connection attempts per minute really stink and at that rate I can never ever disable my firewall for a second... somehow this has to be fixed and I really, really hope someone around here can help me. Thanks! |
