Before I ask for help I would just like to say thank you so much to all of you that volunteer your time to help all of us.
![]() I have an HP Pavillion zv6000 laptop, XP, IE 6. I use the free zone alarm for firewall, the free Avira for antivirus and for spyware a friend recommended SuperAntiSpyware remover program which seems to be doing ok but I would prefer to know which malware remover program you all suggest. For a few weeks, my computer has been running slow, freezing up, getting the "windows not responding" and have to use ctrl, alt, delete alot too. We have comcast cable and sometimes it feels like dial up. Anyhow, in the past week about 4 different times and at 4 different sites, I will get the about blank page open about 50 times or more and the only way to stop it is to push the button off. By not shutting down properly, one time the chdisk came up saying "one of your disks needs to be checked for consistency," and at the end it said "correcting error in index $O for file 25," and then it loaded up normally again and I was back online. The "about blank page ordeal" happened again tonight so first I ran the Superantispyware and it came back with 131 bad files. They were all labeled adware so I cleaned that up. Then I ran the Avira Antivirus (the quick scan) and it came up with 2 bad files that were called - EXP/Java.Gimsh.B.3. Avira recommended quarantine so I did that. Still, I won't feel good until you all look and tell me if everything's ok. Here is the log and thanks again - Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 3:18:05 AM, on 9/17/2009 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16876) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\sched.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avguard.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Common\ViewpointService.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI Control Panel\atiptaxx.exe C:\Program Files\Hp\HP Software Update\HPWuSchd2.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPLpr.exe C:\Program Files\Synaptics\SynTP\SynTPEnh.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\Quick Launch Buttons\EabServr.exe C:\Program Files\hpq\HP Wireless Assistant\HP Wireless Assistant.exe C:\WINDOWS\TPPALDR.EXE C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe C:\Program Files\Avira\AntiVir Desktop\avgnt.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\Program Files\HPQ\SHARED\HPQWMI.exe C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://ie.redirect.hp.com/svs/rdr?TY...lion&pf=laptop R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.myspace.com/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=54896 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=69157 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer = actsvr.comcastonline.com:8100 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyOverride = cdn R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {D73F49B6-B51B-4d32-A3B7-BD04B8342F53} - (no file) R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! One last thing, every once in a while I will get the popup box telling me my virtual memory is low so that probably is making my pc not run that great either. I feel like a dumba** but what is that and how do I fix it? It makes me think it would help to go and delete bookmarks, folders with a bunch of different links in them, too much stuff on my desktop, etc. In other words, clean stuff up and get rid of what's not in use..lol |

A few other things just in case you need to know - This computer is the home edition, version 2002 with service pack 3. An AMD processor 3200+, 994 MHz, 384 MB of Ram.
Used space - 18,581,430,272 bytes 17.3 GB Free space - 21,418,070,016 bytes 19.9 GB Capacity - 39,999,500,288 bytes 37.2 GB I put the above because of the virtual memory question I asked although they are probably two different things. |
