Uh Oh
Man, I think that I'm in such a mess I don't know where to start.
In May I came onto this site to ask about these folders that had a lot of numbers and letters in them and were cluttering up my C drive. At that time I was told that they were normal updates and not to worry about them. However, when I look at them they mention things about Windows NT which I have never used/installed. So I left it at that on the advice of the mod. Although, as I'm a bit anal and don't like mess I did decide to create a single folder and move all the folders into that 1 folder and call it done. Then, recently I noticed that windows updates weren't updated and were terminating before they finished. If I tried to switch my computer off at night it would say that it was installing updates but I would leave it 8+hrs and it would still say that it was updating. I still didn't think too much of it until the other week when I wanted to update my IPod and Itunes wouldn't recognise my Ipod. I tried to uninstall Itunes as per the apple help site but it would come up with a message - I have attached it to this post. Thinking that this was somehow linked to the funny folders I thought that I should try to fix that. So, I came back here for help again on another side of the forum and they suggested I do a system recovery which I did do but it would only go back to the start of July. Windows now seems to update ok. However, tonight I got a message about my system shutting down because the dcoms server process launcher terminated unexpectedly. Picture also attached. It then shut down my computer. Thinking this strange I tried to google it but when I would click on the sites to give me information it would take me to strange sites and say that they sites where blocked. This also occured when I tried to come here. I had to press the back button and then click on the address bar and press enter. I have spyware doctor installed but through I would maybe disable that and install avg to see if I could work out what was wrong when the Installer error came up again. Please help! *edit* it won't let me upload the pictures. I can try again later if you want? |

Re: Uh Oh
Hello and welcome to TSF
These $NTUninstall folders are created when you install a Microsoft Service Pack, a hotfix, or certain security updates. Leave them alone. I doubt very much your issues are related to Virus/Trojan/Spyware. If your issues are Virus/Trojan/Spyware related, please follow our guidelines set out below. ------------------------- We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here: NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed. If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply. Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply. Last edited by TheBruce1; 09-16-2009 at 02:01 PM. |
