Hello,
Starting just recently, there are some programs that won't work. By that I mean that I double click on Internet Explorer or Pro Tools, and the hourglass appears for a few seconds, and then nothing happens. I am using Firefox because IE is not working. In addition, other oddities have shown up. When I go to the Shut Down menu, there is a Windows update that requires me to Turn Off the computer to install the update. However, every time I do it, it installs but the Shut Down menu continues to say that I need to turn off the computer to install the update. I ran Avast's antivirus, and a few problems showed up in this folder: C:\System Volume Information\_restore{22B3A706-00B7-45F7-8323-FA7E863155D7}\RP452\ I wasn't able to move it to the "chest" while in Windows, but I was able to move the files when I ran Avast's boot scan before windows was opened. However, the problem with not being able to load Pro Tools or IE remains. I have also used Spybot Search and Destroy and Ad-Aware. I use the following: Windows XP Professional - Service Pack 3 Dell Dimension 8400 Attach and ark.txt are attached. Re: Stuff won't load...possibly infected
OK, I got Pro Tools to work by using my free upgrade to 8.0. Another problem with 8.0 occurred, but I found out that uninstalling IE8 fixed it. So I guess my computer is good for now.
