Google redirect virus
Hi all,
My computer has what I believe is the nasty google redirect virus. Also, on occasion, windows will semi "freeze"; in other words, it still seems to work only I am unable to open programs or files, although I can open folders (if that makes any sense). Either way, I have run several scans, including Avast AV, Malwarebytes, Super-anti spyware, and HJT, and in addition have cleaned out internet files several times. Windows in general seems to run a bit smoother, but I am still getting redirected on links in search engines. I am not completely computer-illiterate, but by no means am I an expert, and would appreciate any help! I have attached a log from MBAM, however was unable to get the HJT and Super anti spyware logs to attach, so I apologize for the lengthy post: SuperAntiSpyware: SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log http://www.superantispyware.com Generated 07/20/2009 at 03:31 AM Application Version : 4.26.1006 Core Rules Database Version : 4001 Trace Rules Database Version: 1941 Scan type : Complete Scan Total Scan Time : 01:52:19 Memory items scanned : 584 Memory threats detected : 0 Registry items scanned : 6514 Registry threats detected : 0 File items scanned : 36333 File threats detected : 2 Adware.Tracking Cookie C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Cookies\administrator@doubleclick[2].txt C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Cookies\administrator@kontera[2].txt ====================================================== |

Re: Google redirect virus
As I was searching for the HJT log I had the windows "freezing" problem. I notice it tends to occur when trying to attach the files to the forum, or while attempting to start one of the anti-virus/spyware/etc programs. Also, after start-up, windows is slow to get started, but I think maybe that's due to having to reboot with the power button (?) as I am unable to restart normally (it won't let me restart through 'Start>Turn Off Computer).

Re: Google redirect virus
Hello and Welcome to TSF.
We no longer use HijackThis as our initial analysis tool. We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here: NEW INSTRUCTIONS - Read This Before Posting For Malware Removal Help After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed. If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply. Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply. |
