Help possible virus wont allow me to save onto c:

Hello,
Just recently i haven't been able to save programs onto my hard drive. Itunes wont install and quicktime, adobe, etc. The problem is i have insufficient privilege to save them. I have contacted my school and they said i possibly have a virus and would need to re image my machine in a month which i want to avoid. I have symantec virus protection and i cannot get a live update which they said was an indicator that i have a virus.

If anyone could help me it would be much appreciated since I cannot save anything to my hard drive.... wait as we speak i ran AVAST! virus scan and a malware pop up: named WMA:Wimad[drp]
