CPU Volatile and Erratic after Removal of trojan embedded in winlogon.exe file.
After a long battle with a trojan which had lodged itself in winlogon.exe file, I finally got rid of it after getting some useful help off forums such as this. The symptoms were things like Windows refusing to load correctly (or at all), requiring repeated restarts until successful. Unusually High CPU usage, Internet Explorer became useless, things like Spybot would not open (attempts to open it simply showed an hourglass cursor for 3 or so seconds and then nothing). After an unspecified time the computer would simply freeze and a physical reset was required.
Unfortunately My McAfee Virus scanner tells me that I no longer have any malware or trojans present on my system. Yet most of these symptoms still exist, and now i'm out of ideas. Can anyone help me? I'm completely frustrated and at the moment am getting mildly excited by the thought of how fun it would be to take a cricket bat to it... i'm sure it would relieve some of the stress. But I thought i'd come here first. |
