Viewmgr, Malware, Frozen No Icons

Hi!

I need help desperately and I don't have much knowledge about computer systems...but I can follow step by step directions well.

I read the first steps before posting and I don't know how to do anything with the computer frozen. Please inform me of how to do it in safe mode.

Here is the problem-

I use Rising Anti Virus (don't know if it's the best or not). A few days ago I noticed that it kept giving me pop ups that the pc was infected with a virus. I think one of my family members went on an unsafe site. I tried cleaning it with Rising and nothing happened. The pop ups continued and I just ignored them. Then I was hit with Spyware Protect 2009 and those pop ups started up. With those came the error message- "ViewMgr has encountered a problem and needs to close"

At this point everything was frozen, I couldn't click on any icons or log onto the internet. I also had to manually shut the computer down.

After a few hours I some how managed to log onto the internet to try and download some programs that I read might help. One was Malwarebytes' Anti Malware. It would not install, but I managed to install Avira AntiVirus. After running a scan in safe mode, it gave me 6 viruses and cleaned them.

I rebooted the computer in normal mode and the error message "ViewMgr has encountered a problem and needs to close" popped up again and everything was frozen. But I did notice that the Spyware Protect popups had stopped.

I tried doing a System Restore in Command Prompt Safe Mode and the next button is disabled, so nothing happens when I press next.

I gave it a rest for a while and just recently turned it back on, now nothing shows up. No icons...only the wallpaper.

If anyone can give me step by step what to do to resolve this I will really appreciate it. I probably need to copy a log or something to show you all, but I don't know how to do that especially since the computer is frozen. Can I do it in safe mode?

By the way, I signed up with Mozy to back up my files a few weeks ago.

Thanks for all your help in advance!!!

Re: Viewmgr, Malware, Frozen No Icons

Also...I have a laptop that I'm using. I'm assuming I can download programs with it and copy them onto the pc somehow?

Re: Viewmgr, Malware, Frozen No Icons

Update

The icons have returned to normal, but now I am back to the original problem.

Spyware Protect 2009 popups everywhere. View Mgr Error and a Google Installer error, stating Google Installer needs to close. Also unable to sign on the the internet or do anything else because of the errors and popups.

Thanks again for the help!
