Alright, so I've got a fairly new laptop, 3gb ram, core 2 duo processor etc etc - it can handle things well; but lately, within the last month or so, I've noticed it has periods (lasting between 2 and 10 minutes long) where the computer completely slows down and it's unable for me to do anything. music skips and sounds jumpy, and the whole system lags. I've found out that as this happens, the CPU Usage bounces to 100%, and the key problem is I don't know why.

It happen's when I've got firefox open with, for example, about 3 tabs and windows media player running... nothing my pc shouldn't be able to handle. Anyway, I think this must be due to a virus somewhere in my system, but I can't be sure. Is there any brave soul out there willing to help?
