Google Redirecting Issue And.. ? 64bit Vista
Well i'm stumped. Helping sort out a friends computer and i think i've encoutered at least the goored virus if not anything more. First time using this site [obviously] and i want to thank you beforehand for the effort and time you guys put in. now...
Running on Vista Home Premium 64-bit----- 1. google.co.uk/firefox just fails with a redirect error. yet google.co.uk is fine. 2. Often links from google will missdirect to myspace ect. When clicked on, this occurs on both FF3 and IE7. Given a second attempt it usually gets the right page. 3. A collection of programs fail to contact to the internet: ---Windows Update- could not search for new updates - error code 80244019 ---Defender- fails to update - error code 0x80244019 ---Spysweeper- cannot update definitions and when it's supposed to load the page in your browser telling you if you have an up to date version it fails to load the page. Other AntiSpyware AntiMalware programs face similar issues, with and without the standard windows firewall turned on, and they all have exceptions in the firewall anyway. Yet he has online games which work fine for instance WoW and CoD. 4. Some antispyware sites fail to load like: Spybot search and destroy. 5. The alternate downloads i've managed to get for things such as Spybot, Ad-Aware or AVG from download.com or filehippo ect ALL fail to install, cleared cache multiple times and reset the computer and tried in safe mode [with networking] when redownloading these files and attempting to install yet they all fail everytime [was only looking for vista 64bit compatables]. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- These are the main faults that i've noticed whilst looking around his computer. I've downloaded the dds and gmer files but... dds runs cmd prompt and simply says "This tool does not your support your Operating System" lol "Press any key to continue. ." I had a brief search on the forums if a vista 64-bit version of the dds tool existed but found no relative results. I apologise if i have passed it in ignorance. And the gmer starts and doesn't prompt about malware root stuff but there is a kind of "tab" at the top which is "rootkit/malware" then the next is just "> > >" which seems like an expandable thing for the rest of the "tabs" anyway, on the ticklist when it's in it's first opened state everything is... all unticked and greyed out [unaffectable] apart from... - "services" - "registry" - "files" [c] - "ADS" - which are all ticked. anyway, i ran a scan with those settings [since i couldn't change the other tickboxes] and have attached it below. Sorry this is probably the most useless first post/thread missing half the information and all. Thank you for reading though my trashy writing.

Re: Google Redirecting Issue And.. ?
BUMP, please.
I don't expect an answer from what i've put in the first post, just perhaps a point in the right direction to a 64 bit vista version of the "dds" test. OR at least a possible reason for it failing? Anyways, I suspect that he has a keylogger so i'll probably reformat to make sure it's gone. Thanks for reading this and looking forward to a reply. |

BUMP, please.
BUMP please.
Sorry i know that you guys are extremly busy what with 2000 odd posts in the last 24 hours. Well after a bit more searching on your site i've noticed that others running vista 64bit have had the same issue of: "This tool does not your support your Operating System" for dds, so Would you like me to run a different analysis tool ie. hijack this or something... OR Would you rather me post in the vista forum section and link to this thread? I could do both. Anyway looking forward to a reply. edca |
