Sudden computer slow down

Greetings,

Pertinent System stats:

Duel Core 2.8

4GB DDR2 RAM(Shame about XPs limitations, eh?)

Nvidia 8800GT with 1GB onboard

Symptoms: Roughly three days ago there was a sudden and dramatic slowdown of my system. Most notably in my game Red Alert 3. Normal load time was about ten seconds, this is now about a minute. and a half also the in game browser refresh rate is slow. The system loads up and shuts down very slowly as well and Firefox as well. So far I've seen no slowdown in my internet speed.

I have attempted to find the cause thusly-

Reinstalled RA3 (In case the software was responsible)

Scanned in safe mode and out with Spybot and Ad-Aware

The antivirus I use is AVG.

All came up with nothing.

Nothing seems out of place in Process Explorer.

I use CCleaner to keep the files and registry under control but also did a registry sweep with Regseeker.

No help there either.

The install of the system is less than three months old.

I have subscribed to this thread.
