Re: warning! spyware detected on your computer!

Let's try dial-a-fix

http://wiki.djlizard.net/Dial-a-fix
  • Download/save the program and extract to it's own folder.
  • In the WU/WUAU area click the button Flush SoftwareDistribution (Click Yes)
  • Tick all boxs in the WU/WUAU and Registration center area then click the Go button.

There is also a Policies area that will show any registry restrictions. Check on that, and fix any found.

See if the updates will install then.

Re: warning! spyware detected on your computer!

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. Actually i was away from my Laptop. It did fix the issue but it cannot install Microsoft Guenuine Advantage updates. Is Dial-a-fix only check for XP SP2 as well?

Thanks
Sam.

Re: warning! spyware detected on your computer!

If you cannot install MS Genuine Updates, you may need to contact Microsoft.

Not sure I understand the question you're asking about Dial-A-Fix.

As this is now beyond malware removal, I'd suggest you ask for help in the Windows XP section of the forum if you have need of further assistance.

Re: warning! spyware detected on your computer!

System Volume Information is where Windows stores System Restore points. Those cannot harm your machine unless you were to restore the system to one of those points.

Uninstalling ComboFix should have flushed those points, and set a new clean one. Did you perform the ComboFix /u command successfully?

CLEAR & RESET SYSTEM RESTORE'S CACHE

Go to Start >> Run - type or copy/paste control sysdm.cpl,,4 & press Enter

* Tick on the checkbox - Turn off System Restore on all drives
* Click Apply

Turn it back 'On' by unticking the same checkbox & click Apply, and then OK
