EEK! Google links redirected to new sites & unable to update flash player...

Hi all,

When I'm using google and click on the search results, I don't go to that web site, but instead am sent to another search engine. When I hit the back button and hit the link again, I go somewhere else. It takes about three tries to get to where I want to go. My second issue is that I'm unable to watch any youtube videos or videos that require a flash player. I had no problem maybe a month or so ago. Anyway, I go to the adobe site and download the latest player only to go to youtube and it tells me to go and download the flash player again. Very annoying. I'm thankful for this site and any help with this. My anti-virus software (CA) picks nothing up, nor does spybot. I've done the steps so here's the paste and hopefully the attachments work.

Jerry

Re: Google links redirected to new sites & unable to update flash player...

Hi,

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Note: If you have Internet connection problems find and double left click the registry file dnsbak.reg located here: C:\Fixwareout\dnsbak.reg
and if you did, be sure to mention it to your helper.

Next: A text will open, Please post the contents for your forum helper.
Click OK to continue.

Re: Google links redirected to new sites & unable to update flash player...

Hi,

We're almost there

Disable Spybot's TeaTimer. This is a two step process.
First step:
  • Right-click the Spybot Icon in the System Tray (looks like a blue/white calendar with a padlock symbol)
  • If you have the new version 1.5, Click once on Resident Protection, then Right click the Spybot icon again and make sure Resident Protection is now Unchecked. The Spybot icon in the System tray should now be now colorless.
  • If you have Version 1.4, Click on Exit Spybot S&D Resident
Second step, For Either Version :
  • Open Spybot S&D
  • Click Mode, choose Advanced Mode
  • Go To the bottom of the Vertical Panel on the Left, Click Tools
  • then, also in left panel, click Resident shows a red/white shield.
  • If your firewall raises a question, say OK
  • In the Resident protection status frame, Uncheck the box labeled Resident "Tea-Timer"(Protection of over-all system settings) active
  • OK any prompts.
  • Use File, Exit to terminate Spybot
  • Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect.
