My HJT Log....:-(
Ok, the Machine is running XP with SP1 installed. Wife uses machine to network with her Company from home. They will not allow her to install SP 2 because of conflicts with their software. Machine has many pop-ups, redirects, and after a short period of use, gets so slow it is almost unusable. Additionally, when you use and drop down or fly out menues from desktop or from any program, they appear painfully slow. Thanks in advance... heres my log..

Hi Tim and welcome to TSF!!
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. You have the Peper infection. Download PeperUninstall. Make sure you are connected online to run this program. Run it once and reboot. Then run it again for the second time. Download PeperFix and save it to your Desktop. Run it and click Find and Fix (reboot if prompted). The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download Index.dat Suite to clean out all the temp folders. Do not run it yet. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\WINDOWS\System32\CLUSAPI6.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Qci53q.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Bwd0n.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: 180Solutions Web Offer Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = http://localhost R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: (no name) - {49A96C79-B036-019A-D002-65557CF4733A} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\duef.dll (file missing) O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {C5183ABC-EB6E-4E05-B8C9-500A16B6CF94} - (no file) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2LRX2W83X2T3MQ] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Fdjc3K.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [9132a3f4eb5d] C:\WINDOWS\System32\CLUSAPI6.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [sais] c:\program files\180solutions\sais.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2] C:\documents and settings\nw\local settings\temp\2.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [0h7] C:\documents and settings\nw\local settings\temp\0h7.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Nppdntle] C:\WINDOWS\System32\w?wexec.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ncao] C:\Documents and Settings\NW\Application Data\urpo.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eZWO] C:\PROGRA~1\Web Offer\wo.exe O16 - DPF: {4FAE30E1-EE9C-477D-8D06-BF8D3429B60F} (WebIQ Technology Client) - http://webiq001.webiqonline.com/WebIQ/bin/WebIQ.cab O16 - DPF: {9522B3FB-7A2B-4646-8AF6-36E7F593073C} (cpbrkpie Control) - http://a19.g.akamai.net/7/19/7125/4...23/cpbrkpie.cab Delete the Files/Folders listed above in RED (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: Run Index.dat Suite now and go to Tools->Settings. Then make sure to check the following: Cookies, History, Recent Documents, Swap File (if you have Windows 95/98), Temporary Internet Files and Temp Files. Click Save at the bottom. Then click on the Find button. Let it search. Then click on the second button on the top. This will generate a batch file. Click Next->Next->Next and it will tell you that after the next reboot/restart the file should run by itself and clean out the temp folders. To make sure it's cleaned out, go into My Computer->C: Drive and double click on the run.bat file. After that you may delete that file if you want. Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean.

Is this better?
So far so good. Only confusing part was the instructions for running Index.dat Suite. After clicking on second button on the top a batch file was generated, but there is no place to Click Next>Next>Next.
Anyway, ran your instructions and here is what I have now in my log file: Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2 Scan saved at 12:04:05 PM, on 11/14/2004 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Aventail\Connect\as32svc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\ISafe.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\cisvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\IntraPort Client\vpn5000service.exe C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\VetMsg.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\hkcmd.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Dell\EUSW\Support.exe C:\Program Files\Dell\Support\Alert\bin\NotifyAlert.exe C:\Program Files\BroadJump\Client Foundation\CFD.exe C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\CAVTray.exe C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\CAVRID.exe C:\Program Files\Real\RealPlayer\RealPlay.exe C:\paprport\pptd40nt.exe C:\Program Files\MUSICMATCH\MUSICMATCH Jukebox\mmtask.exe C:\Program Files\Roxio\Easy CD Creator 5\DirectCD\DirectCD.exe C:\Program Files\Support.com\bin\tgcmd.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Program Files\Digital Line Detect\DLG.exe C:\Program Files\WinZip\WZQKPICK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\wbem\wmiapsrv.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://www.dellnet.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust...search/ie.html R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.yahoo.com/ R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.dellnet.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapps.yahoo.com/cust.../www.yahoo.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page_bak = http://www.yahoo.com/ R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = http://www.bellsouth.net/ O2 - BHO: Yahoo! Thank you!
Thanks BIG TIME for the help. Was worried about the wifes networking software after following your instructions but all is working fine and the machine is running MUCH faster! Time to visit PayPal..
One last question, is it ok to keep all of the programs I downloaded on the machine, or should I get rid of them now that I am finished? Again, thank you for the help! |

I would advise hanging onto Index.dat Suite and visiting that Anti-Spyware site for more tips.
Your donation is greatly appreciated! ![]()
