Re: Computer sending out spams
Hi,
It appears that you are using some file sharing programs, i.e. PPLive and PPStream. I would like to warn you that the nature of P2P filesharing is so that even if one is using a "clean" program, many of the files downloaded from non-documented sources have the potential of being infected. So, regardless of whether one is using a "clean" program, one may still be prone to infection by malware because more than half of all files available for download from peer-to-peer networks have been deliberately infected with some form of malware. Also by default, most P2P file sharing programs are configured to automatically launch at startup. They are also configured to allow other P2P users on the same network open access to a shared directory on your computer. The reason for this is simple, file sharing relies on its members giving and gaining unfettered access to computers across the P2P network. However, this practice can make you vulnerable to data and identity theft. I recommend very strongly that you remove them from your system via Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. ======================================== Now, run HijackThis. Close all windows and browsers except HijackThis. Go to Config > Misc tools Click on Delete a File On Reboot Click once on the file below to select it: C:\WINDOWS\C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ole2disp32.dll Click on the Back button to exit Process Manager Now, back at the main screen of HijackThis, click on Scan and put a check in front of the following O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) O16 - DPF: {FD3FF62E-61A7-48EE-A4A4-97CE7BD1F99D} (SodaAgt Class) - http://192.168.228.8/sodp/SodaAgent.CAB O20 - Winlogon Notify: ole2disp32 - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ole2disp32.dll Close all other windows/browsers/applications, except HijackThis and click on Fix checked. ========================================= Please download Ccleaner and save it to your desktop . Tutorial for CCleaner Do not scan with it yet. ========================================
======================================= Reboot your computer in "SAFE MODE" using the F8 method. To do this, restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly. A menu will appear with several options. Use the arrow keys to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode". (Note: When run in safe mode, sometimes the GUI is larger than the screen and the buttons at the bottom are partly or completely hidden, making them unaccessible for doing a scan. If this is the case, press the WINKEY + M key or Alt + Spacebar to "Minimize" the AVG display. Then right-click on AVG in the Task Bar and select "Maximize". If that does not help, then you may have to run your scan in normal mode and advise your helper afterwards.) ======================================= From Safe Mode run Ccleaner
If you have more than one users, run Ccleaner for every user ========================================
Note: Close all open windows, programs, and DO NOT USE the computer while AVG Anti-Spyware is scanning. Doing so can hamper AVG Anti-Spyware's ability to clean properly and may result in reinfection. AVG Anti-Spyware is free for 30 days and all the extensions of the full version will be activated. After the 30 day trial, active protection extensions will be deactivated and the program will turn into a feature-limited freeware version that you can continue to use as an on-demand scanner or you may purchase a license to use the full version. We are installing AVG AntiSpyware with its real-time protection disabled. Once your system is clean you may renable it so you can continue using this feature for the remainder of the trial period. ========================================= Reboot in Normal Mode. ========================================= Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and remove if Kaspersky online scanner is present prior to downloading the most up-to-date one. Now run this online scan using Internet Explorer: Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
*Note It is recommended to disable onboard antivirus program and antispyware programs while performing scans for no conflicts and to speed up scan time. Please don't go surfing while your resident protection is disabled! Once scan is finished remember to re-enable resident antivirus protection along with whatever antispyware app you use. Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%. Or use Firefox with IE-Tab plugin =================================== Please post back the AVG Anti Spyware log, Kaspersky report and a fresh HijackThis log.

Re: Computer sending out spams
Hi Amateur,
Thank you for the swift response. I have performed the mentioned steps less the Kaspersky scan. Please find the AVG Anti Spyware log as attached. I will attach the Kaspersky scan and the hijackthis logs once I have finished the scan. Thanks again! |

Re: Computer sending out spams
Missing the Kaspersky log. I'm on way out for an out-of-state trip in ten minutes. I won't be able to check it till this evening.
