Re: Your Privacy Is In Danger spyware problem
P2P - I see you have P2P software ( Ares 2.0.9, BearShare, BitTorrent ) installed on your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.
Please note: Even if you are using a "safe" P2P program, it is only the program that is safe. You will be sharing files from uncertified sources, and these are often infected. The bad guys use P2P filesharing as a major conduit to spread their wares. References for the risk of these programs are here, here and here. I would strongly recommend that you uninstall them, however that choice is up to you. If you choose to remove these programs, you can do so via Control Panel >> Add or Remove Programs. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I see you have AVG Anti-Spyware already. Please update it's definitions, and run a scan where I have placed it in this fix. Run AVG Anti-Spyware
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries if they exist (make sure you do not miss any) and click Fix Checked O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {31CBB13B-244D-4C44-AED5-DCAD70F66281} - C:\WINDOWS\nsduo.dll (file missing) Close HijackThis now. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Run AVG Anti-Spyware with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed)
Restart in normal mode. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please run this online scan to help look for remnants. Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble viewing the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the bottom right of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan and save a Logfile'. Save the log file and post it here. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please return with results from: AVG Anti-Spyware Kaspersky Online scan HijackThis

Re: Your Privacy Is In Danger spyware problem
Good job.
The only thing of concern there is this: E:\BearShare Applications\BearShare MediaBar\MediaBar.dll ------> Win32.Mostofate.aa I'd still recommend you re-think BearShare, but ultimately, the decision is yours. Also, have you installed this yourself? Cashing In Poker E:\Business\micon\Cashing In Poker\ Poker applications sometimes get added without user consent. Other than that..... Your logs appear clean. You should be good to go. We still have a few items to address. C:\Deckard is DSS working folder. You can safely delete it. Also delete dss.exe Please delete SmitfraudFix, as it's no longer needed. Reset hidden/system files and folders
Clear & Reset System Restore's Cache
Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs if you don't have them already:
In light of your recent troubles, I'm sure you'll like to avoid any future infections. Re: Your Privacy Is In Danger spyware problem
Yes that poker stuff I added myself a while ago. Other than that I got some of the programs you suggested and everything is fine. Thanks again for your timely help, it was greatly appreciated.
