Re: winlogon.exe takes high cpu usage

Hi marcus3708

Please read this post completely before begining the fix. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Please ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T MISS A STEP & PERFORM EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT ORDER.

Please subscribe to this thread to get immediate notification of fixes as soon as they are posted.

=========================================

Additional Downloads

Please download these additional files/programs. Do not run them until instructed to do so.
Unless otherwise stated, they should be stored in same directory as the HiJackThis program.

=================

1. Download this file - Here

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop

2. Go to | Run | paste in the single line command & click OK

"%userprofile%\desktop\combofix.exe" /v IExplorer

3. When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log & a fresh HJT log in your next reply

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

================================

Run a new scan with HijackThis and save the log.

=================================

Please include the following in your next reply, in the following order:

ComboFix.txt
New HijackThis log

Re: winlogon.exe takes high cpu usage

Hi marcus3708

Please read this post completely before begining the fix. If there's anything that you do not understand, kindly ask your questions before proceeding. Please ensure that there aren't any opened browsers when you are carrying out the procedures below. Save the following instructions in Notepad as this webpage would not be available when you're carrying out the fix.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU DON'T MISS A STEP & PERFORM EVERYTHING IN THE RIGHT ORDER.

----------------------------------------------

Additional Downloads

Please download these additional files/programs. Do not run them until instructed to do so.
Unless otherwise stated, they should be stored in same directory as the HiJackThis program.

----------------------------------------------

Please download the Suspicious File Packer → http://www.safer-networking.org/files/sfp.zip
Unzip it to the desktop and run it.
Paste the following list of filepaths into the Suspicious File Packer window:

C:\WINNT\system32\ddcccby.dll
C:\WINNT\system32\rwicwbgf.dll
C:\WINNT\system32\njxkmvpo.dll

Allow SFP to pack the files. This will generate a CAB archive on your desktop.
Please submit it to this site → http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/subm....php?channel=4
Please include a link to this topic in the message.

Please take note that analysis of the submitted specimen may take some time. Thank you for your submission.

----------------------------------------------

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

----------------------------------------------

From Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, uninstall the following programs, if present, :
  • Newdotnet

----------------------------------------------

Run a scan with HiJackThis & select/tick the following & click "Fix checked" :

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\windows\system32\blank.htm
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {948612F7-3712-44F2-A204-59EF96BCD194} - C:\WINNT\system32\rwicwbgf.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WindowsUpdate] rundll32.exe "C:\WINNT\system32\njxkmvpo.dll",realset
O16 - DPF: {CAFEEFAC-0014-0000-0001-ABCDEFFEDCBA} (Java Runtime Environment 1.4.0_01) -

Please remember to close all other windows, including browsers then click Fix checked.

----------------------------------------------

If you have not done so already, please enable the viewing of Hidden files
From Windows Explorer, go to Tools>Folder Options> View tab.
  • Tick - Show hidden files and folder
  • Untick - Hide file extensions for known types
  • Untick - Hide protected operating system files
Click Yes to confirm & then click OK

Locate and delete the following folders, if present:
  • C:\Program Files\Newdotnet

Locate and delete the following files:
  • C:\WINNT\system32\qtstv.bak2
    C:\WINNT\system32\qtstv.bak1
    C:\WINNT\iun6002.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\qtstv.ini2
    C:\C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\GoToAssist_phone__268_en.exe
    C:\WINNT\system32\rwicwbgf.dll
    C:\WINNT\system32\njxkmvpo.dll
    C:\WINNT\system32\ddcccby.dll

----------------------------------------------

REBOOT TO NORMAL MODE

----------------------------------------------

Establish an internet connection & perform an online scan with Internet Explorer at Kaspersky Online Scanner

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
  • The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
      • Extended
    • Scan Options:
      • Scan Archives
      • Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK & have it scan My Computer
  • Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
  • Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.

----------------------------------------------

Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  1. Close all applications and windows.
  2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
  3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
  4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt in your thread in the HijackThis Log Help Forum.
  5. Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simply
  1. Click the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and
  2. copy and paste the following into the "Upload File from your Computer" box:
    C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt
  3. Click Upload.
What DSS will do:
  • create a new System Restore point in Windows XP and Vista.
  • clean your Temporary Files, Downloaded Program Files, and Internet Cache Files, and also empty the Recycle Bin on all drives.
  • check some important areas of your system and produce a report for your analyst to review. DSS automatically runs HijackThis for you, but it will also install and place a shortcut to HijackThis on your desktop if you do not already have HijackThis installed.

----------------------------------------------

In your next post, please include fresh logs from:
  • Online scan
  • main.txt
  • C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt
Please provide details of any problems you encountered whilst performing the above steps & update us on how the computer behaves now

Re: winlogon.exe takes high cpu usage

Hi marcus3708

P2P - I see you have P2P software your machine. We are not here to pass judgment on file-sharing as a concept. However, we will warn you that engaging in this activity and having this kind of software installed on your machine ("mIRC Azureus BitLord1.1 Limewire") installed on will always make you more susceptible to re-infections. It may be contributing to your current situation. This page will give you further information.

================================================

===============================================

Additional Downloads

Please download these additional files/programs. Do not run them until instructed to do so.
Unless otherwise stated, they should be stored in same directory as the HiJackThis program.

=================

Download win32delfkil.exe.
Save it on your desktop.

=================

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
  • Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

  • Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Close OTMoveIt
If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please post the log from OTMoveIt, located here:

c:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles\mmddyyyy_hhmmss.log

Where mmddyyyy_hhmmss is the date of the tool run.

==========================

Please download the file attached - regdel.zip

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now.

From within regdel.zip, doubleclick regdel.reg & allow it to merge with the Registry

    Close all windows and open the win32delfkil folder and double click on fix.bat.

Re: winlogon.exe takes high cpu usage

couldn't find the msblast.exe in the system32 file and I ran the win32delfkil.exe a second time by an accident and for some reason when I try to attach the move it log it says invalid file although it says it moved the file successfully.
I'll just post the the log it self.

C:\WINNT\system32\qtstv.ini2 moved successfully.
