Steve, I thought I had you do this already, but I may have missed it.

Uninstall from Add/Remove all Java versions except Update 11.

If these remain, they should be uninstalled. Not only do they take up space, but they are a security risk by simply having them still installed.

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 10

Thanks you have been a really great help, you guys are terrific.. Now that I am totally paranoid about spyware I am gonna post a comboscan log from my notebook.. have not picked up any viruses there but then again I only picked up searchcolors on my desktop and I have Ad-aware se, McAfee security centre and webroot spy sweeper installed...

I managed to fix the start-up windows issue.. it was part of embassy trust suite so just repaired it..

yes I did delete the J2SE files..
