I've uninstalled FM2006, but running gmer resulted in a power cut. I'll try it again in the morning when the heat can't be an excuse though.
The thread in the Power Supply section is getting interesting though. Turns out my computer just might be the model involved with dodgy power supplies. |

Thanks for the update. I've been following along over there, and it sure seems to be a heat issue--especially since I'm not finding any malware.
I've been unable to find definitive info--what is this program PCGATE Personal? If it is a firewall, uninstall it via the Add/Remove programs.

I think it's something to do with ZoneAlarm. The same people made it so it's probably the Japanese version. I couldn't install ZoneAlarm because PCGate was there and they were seen as the same program or something. It was there when I got the computer and haven't had any problems so far with it as far as I know.
I can definately believe that it's a heat issue because of the fast increase when running a scan. It didn't make it through a gmer scan this morning, went from 28C to something like 44C. The fan is pretty loud, but I put that down to the style of the computer (I can't really call it a laptop considering). |

Ahh, I see it now.
![]() Running processes: C:\Program Files\PCGATE Personal\pcgate.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe O23 - Service: TrueVector Internet Monitor (vsmon) - Zone Labs Inc. - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ZoneLabs\vsmon.exe I see it now in your Add/Remove, and I'm not seeing a separate entry for ZoneAlarm or Zonelabs so you're fine in that regard: ob|[^ --> C:\WINDOWS\ISUN0411.EXE -fC:\PCP\Uninst.isu -cC:\PCP\PCPINST.dll Thank you for clarifying. ![]() I'll close this thread and leave you in the capable hands of the Hardware Team. ![]() |
