Not sure I understand the problem....you can create a HJT log, but can't paste it into your reply here?

Can you attach it as a txt document?

What browser are you using? Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc...

Are you receiving a browser error or Windows error when trying to paste or attach the contents of the log?

Sent as a text document where?

To attach it, use the Manage Attachments button in the reply window, navigate to the log file using the Browse button, and upload it.

Rex, see the attached thumbnails and see if that helps you correct the issue. I think IE's popup blocker is preventing you from doing what needs be done.

The attachment appears to be blank. There should be no need to save the log as a doc file, as it will automatically be saved as as a txt file.

Please do this:

Double click on HijackThis.exe to run the program.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.

See this thumbnail:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/atta...1&d=1161097587

2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. (The log will be saved in the HJT folder, as hijackthis.log)
3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

To more easily post the log, while the notepad text file HijackThis creates is open, look at the menu bar (upper left side of the text file which HJT automatically opens upon completion). Go to Edit and click once, scroll to Select All click once, back up to Edit again click once, now click Copy.

*See first 4 thumbnails below.*

The entire log is now in your clipboard.

Open a reply window in this thread. Make sure the cursor is active in this window by mouse clicking once in the reply window.

In your browser window's menu bar, go to Edit, and select Paste. The HJT log should now be in the reply window. Hit submit reply, and we should have something to work with.

Good job, rex....that's exactly what we need to see.

Now, let's see about your system.

I don't see any obvious malware in that log, but HJT is only one of several tools we use to ID and remove malware.

I do see a couple of issues that we need to address before digging further.

I see you have more than one Anti-Virus program installed, AVG7 and BitDefender. While this may seem like greater protection, it can cause problems including slowdowns and system hangs. Choose one to keep and uninstall the other.

Any antivirus program must be removed via Start>ControlPanel>add/remove programs.
For any program that doesn't have an add/remove entry, you will have to do this:
re-install the program -> reboot -> uninstall
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

I see you have SpyWareBot installed.

**Note** Spywarebot is considered rogueware and we highly recommend uninstalling it. There are plenty of tried and true, free programs out there for which I will provide links after we've cleaned your system. I recommend you uninstall this program via your Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel.

Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist:

SpyWareBot

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Open HijackThis and click on 'Do a System Scan Only'. Check the following entries if they exist (make sure you do not miss any) and click Fix Checked

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [spywarebot] C:\Program Files\SpywareBot\SpywareBot.exe -boot

Close HijackThis now.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Delete this folder if it still exists:

C:\Program Files\SpywareBot

Post a new HijackThis log when you've accomplished these tasks. Let me know if the system speed is better.

Good work, rex...now you're getting the hang of it. This next phase will be a bit more involved.

I'm not seeing any malware still.

Please perform this general system scan and cleaning to see if anything is lurking.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Download AVG Anti-Spyware
  • Install AVG Anti-Spyware
  • Double-click the icon on Desktop to launch AVG Anti-Spyware
You will need to update AVG Anti-Spyware to the latest definition files.
  • On the top of the main screen click Shield
  • Click the word active to change it to inactive
  • On the top of the main screen click Update.
  • Then click on Start Update. The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  • Under "Reports"
    • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
When you have finished updating, EXIT AVG Anti-Spyware. Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download and install CleanUp!
NOTE: CleanUp! deletes EVERYTHING out of your temp/temporary folders, it does not make backups. If you have any documents or programs that are saved in any Temporary Folders, make a backup of these before running CleanUp!. Do NOT run this program if you have XP Professional 64 bit edition. If you're unsure please do not run it! If you don't already know, you're probably not using XP64, but you can download & run this tool to find out for sure.....http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/regs...p_whichcpu.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
  • Empty Recycle Bins
  • Delete Cookies
  • Delete Prefetch files (if present)
  • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click on the Temporary Files tab and uncheck the box for Scan drives for files matching if it’s checked.
Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to log-off/reboot at the end, if it does please do so.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan
