Problem resolved
Finally, I got the problem resolved
I spent almost two hours with Microsoft's Security hotline. We removed some entries in the registry and an entry in the host file TCP/IP uses. This allow me to use Explorer with XP in Safe mode. I then rerun the line scan (Trend Micro), the antispyware suites, and then Norton. These did not find anything. However, Explorer still did not work in regular XP mode. Then I decided to reset my Norton Firewall settings. For Explorer these were set to "Automatically Configure for Internet Access". I changed then to "Permit All". This did it!! ![]() |
