Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. Right click on this link http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/DelO15Domains.inf and choose Save As. Save it to your desktop. Right click on that file and choose Install. You may delete it afterwards. Download AboutBuster and unzip it to a folder on your the Desktop. Do not run it yet. Download FixAgent and unzip it. Run FixAgent.exe. It should fix something. If nothing is fixed, skip to the next step for the HijackThis fixes. If something is found, also download home_missing_114 and unzip it. Run the Home winkey missing batch file. Remember: ONLY run home_missing_114 if FixAgent found something. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll/sp.html#28129 R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02F9475B-0A72-319B-A436-13ADA3DC5EDE} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdh32.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KernelFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -k O15 - Trusted Zone: *.05p.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.awmdabest.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.clickspring.net O15 - Trusted Zone: *.frame.crazywinnings.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.mt-download.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.my-internet.info O15 - Trusted Zone: *.scoobidoo.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.searchmiracle.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.static.topconverting.com O15 - Trusted Zone: *.05p.com (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.awmdabest.com (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.clickspring.net (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.frame.crazywinnings.com (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.mt-download.com (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.my-internet.info (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.scoobidoo.com (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.searchmiracle.com (HKLM) O15 - Trusted Zone: *.static.topconverting.com (HKLM) O23 - Service: Workstation NetLogon Service - Unknown - C:\WINDOWS\system32\ieun.exe (file missing) Run AboutBuster and follow the prompts to scan (choose Yes/OK for all). It will ask you if you want a second scan, choose Yes. Save the log file and post it here. Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\system32\sfhtf.dll C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdh32.dll Also delete ALL those EXE and DLL files (in their corresponding directory) listed above in RED. Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I've followed your instructions as far as I could but
got stuck on. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): I'm not sure if I've got the right bit of hijackthis software because there is no option to go into Config. Mine siits in a folder with hijackthisanalyzer.exe inside it. Thanks, Steve please ignoremy last post as I was having a blonde moment |

Just give us the regular HijackThis log if you are done with the fixes. If analyzer is giving you problems, skip using that program and post original hijackthis.log after fixes and new scan.

Adaware and spybot show everything as clean. However noadware comes up with
IST bar/Powerscan\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\mRegValue Severe and when noadware deletes it the log file looks like this [TYPE:REGKEY] [ACTION:DELETED] [VALUE:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks] as soon as I run it again it's back again |

Go to C:\WINDOWS\ and double click on wininit.ini to open it. Then delete the following: `[Rename] `NUL=C:\DOCUME~1\steve\LOCALS~1\TEMPOR~1\Content.I E5\index.dat Save the file and close it. Right click on this link and choose Save As. Save it somewhere. Now run that program and do a search for these (do them separately): IST bar Powerscan Save each file separately and post the contents in the forum.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the wininit.ini file. I'm opening it with wordpad and deleting the two lines inside it, but then it won't let me save it. I've set the attributes by unticking the read only box. I tried double clicking it as you suggested but nothing happened. Am I trying to do this the correct way?
Cheers, Steve Please ignore the last posting as I hadn't removed the hidden file tick!!! I ran the script and it couldn't find either of those. I did a search for Tibs3 which I have noticed in my registery and it found the following REGEDIT4 ; RegSrch.vbs © Bill James ; Registry search results for string "Tibs3" 27/01/2005 18:30:20 ; NOTE: This file will be deleted when you close WordPad. ; You must manually save this file to a new location if you want to refer to it again later. ; (If you save the file with a .reg extension, you can use it to restore any Registry changes you make to these values.) [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\tibs3] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\tibs3] "item"="tibs3" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\tibs3] "command"="C:\\WINDOWS\\System32\\tibs3.exe" |

So nothing for IST bar or PowerScan?
Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad: REGEDIT4 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg\tibs3] Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it and choose Yes to merge it. You may delete the file afterwards. Try deleting those lines and saving the wininit.ini file in Safe Mode.

I seem to have got rid of tibs or tibs3. When I run the register search for either it comes back with nothing found. It also comes back with nothing found when searching for IST bar or Powerscan, but Noadware still shows
IST bar/Powerscan\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\mRegValue Severe Have looked at the registry with RegEdit and there is no such entry... Regards Steve |
