Isass.exe
Hey guys.
The last 2 days I've been having a problem with some file called isass.exe in my system32 folder. A pop up window shows up and tells me there is some problem with the isass.exe file and that my computer will restart in 1 minute. I tried running AdAware, Microsoft AntiSpyware and even tried deleting the file with KillBox... Anny suggestions to what I should do? I would've posted a HiJack This log but everytime I try to save one my screen gets freaky and disconnects (Maybe that has something to do with it?). What should I do? Ok I took screencaps of HiJack This - I hope that helps?? ![]() |

We can't a whole lot without proper context of entire log.
See if the previous version of HJT helps: Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis1982.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless. Also, try this tool for the Sasser worm, whihc you may have: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...sser.worm.html

Okay after a few problems I finally managed to get it done
With this version of HiJack This it allowed me to save the log before it shut everything down.. Which is better I guess. I couldn't open the log though so I had to send it to a friend and have him email it to me.. Here it is: Logfile of HijackThis v1.98.2 Scan saved at 01:28:00, on 25-01-2005 Platform: Windows XP SP1 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Programmer\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\Programmer\QuickTime\qttask.exe C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Logitech\QCDriver2\LVCOMS.EXE C:\Programmer\Logitech\ImageStudio\LogiTray.exe C:\Programmer\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe C:\Programmer\Google\Gmail Notifier\G001-1.0.24.0\gnotify.exe C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Programmer\The Cleaner\tca.exe C:\Programmer\The Cleaner\tcm.exe C:\Programmer\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe C:\Programmer\Java\j2re1.4.2_06\bin\jusched.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe C:\Programmer\AIM\aim.exe C:\Programmer\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\gearsec.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Programmer\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.EXE C:\Programmer\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe C:\Programmer\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\wuauclt.exe C:\Programmer\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\HJT\HijackThis1982.exe R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://cybertlcworld.proboards44.com...?board=general R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://cybertlcworld.proboards44.com...?board=general R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = Hyperlinks R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Helper - {AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7} - c:\programmer\google\googletoolbar1.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Radio - {8E718888-423F-11D2-876E-00A0C9082467} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\msdxm.ocx O3 - Toolbar: &Google - {2318C2B1-4965-11d4-9B18-009027A5CD4F} - c:\programmer\google\googletoolbar1.dll O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] C:\Programmer\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Programmer\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LVCOMS] C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Logitech\QCDriver2\LVCOMS.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechGalleryRepair] C:\Programmer\Logitech\ImageStudio\ISStart.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LogitechImageStudioTray] C:\Programmer\Logitech\ImageStudio\LogiTray.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gvkevqzf] C:\WINDOWS\System32\vukyfalr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Programmer\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Programmer\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [{0228e555-4f9c-4e35-a3ec-b109a192b4c2}] C:\Programmer\Google\Gmail Notifier\G001-1.0.24.0\gnotify.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tcactive] C:\Programmer\The Cleaner\tca.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tcmonitor] C:\Programmer\The Cleaner\tcm.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gcasServ] "C:\Programmer\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Programmer\Java\j2re1.4.2_06\bin\jusched.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CTFMON.EXE] C:\WINDOWS\System32\ctfmon.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [AIM] C:\Programmer\AIM\aim.exe -cnetwait.odl O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Yahoo! Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.
Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. Download AboutBuster and unzip it to a folder on your the Desktop. Do not run it yet. The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\Programmer\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe Uninstall the following via the Add/Remove Panel (Start->(Settings)->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs) if they exist: Viewpoint (all apps) Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName = Hyperlinks R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [gvkevqzf] C:\WINDOWS\System32\vukyfalr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Programmer\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.d ll",cdaEngineMain O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ViewMgr] C:\Programmer\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Manager\ViewMgr.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [UserFaultCheck] %systemroot%\system32\dumprep 0 -u O16 - DPF: {11311111-1111-1111-1111-111111111157} - file://C:\Program Files\Q666777.exe O16 - DPF: {DF780F87-FF2B-4DF8-92D0-73DB16A1543A} (PopCapLoader Object) - http://www.popcap.com/games/popcaploader_v6.cab Run AboutBuster and follow the prompts to scan (choose Yes/OK for all). It will ask you if you want a second scan, choose Yes. Save the log file and post it here. Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\System32\vukyfalr.exe C:\Programmer\WildTangent\ C:\Programmer\Viewpoint\ C:\Program Files\Q666777.exe Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum. Let's use a program to scan for any trojans that may exist. Download TDS-3. Learn how to use it here. Make sure to update it after you installed it. You can get the manual updates here. When you launch the program, it will scan your memory for running processes. This will take less than 30 seconds. Next go to System Testing on the menu and choose Full System Scan. After that's finished, post the log file by selecting everything on the top pane (select from bottom to top). If any alarms are found, it will be listed in the bottom window. Please copy and paste that here also if it applies.
