w32.sillyp2p.exe virus
I have a XP pro operating system and am running Symantec Corporate AntiVirus Edition. Symantec keeps quarantining a virus called w32.sillyp2p.exe. It started about 24 hours ago and has happened every hour on the hour.
My antivirus says it is located in c:\windows\king and queens. Can anyone tell me how to stop this? My firewall is on, security is set to high and this is coming through anyway. Last edited by blegark : 01-15-2005 at 04:22 PM. Reason: Left something out |

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.
1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'. 2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log. 3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Either Ad-aware Or Hijackthis Was The Problem
I solved the problem, I relized the only thing I had done different over the last couple of days was install Ad-Aware and HiJack. I unstalled both and the problem went away.
I don't know which of the two was the culprit, but I decided I could do without either one. Thanks for the help. |
