Hi and Welcome to TSF
Before attacking an adware/spyware problem with hijackthis make sure you have already run ad-aware SE with VX2 add-on cleaner, Spybot Search & Destroy (with updated database) and CWShredder as these programs will clean a lot of the crap out first. All links to programs are in my signature. Ok..on to the log….. Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be but make sure) C:\WINDOWS\iau.exe C:\WINDOWS\stisvsq.exe C:\WINDOWS\svshost.exe C:\WINDOWS\msqdevl.exe C:\WINDOWS\lssas.exe C:\WINDOWS\mservice.exe Check and fix the following in HijackThis if they still exist (make sure you do not miss an entry) R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://easy-search.biz R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://easy-search.biz R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyServer = 127.0.0.1:8080 R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = local O3 - Toolbar: Web assistant - {0B53EAC3-8D69-4b9e-9B19-A37C9A5676A7} O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Internet Acceleration Utility] iau.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Connection Wizard] stisvsq.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Games Acceleration] svshost.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Mail and News] msqdevl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Multimedia extensions] mservice.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Management Console] lssas.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Internet Acceleration Utility] iau.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Internet Connection Wizard] stisvsq.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Games Acceleration] svshost.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Internet Mail and News] msqdevl.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Multimedia extensions] mservice.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Management Console] lssas.exe Delete the following Files/Folders in RED (delete folders if no filename is specified or they are RED) according to their directory (If you can't find them...do a search for them…make sure you have search hidden files, folders, sub directorys..ect enabled if it applys to your OS) C:\WINDOWS\iau.exe C:\WINDOWS\stisvsq.exe C:\WINDOWS\svshost.exe C:\WINDOWS\msqdevl.exe C:\WINDOWS\lssas.exe C:\WINDOWS\mservice.exe mservice.exe <==Locate and delete that file Once done reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file to confirm what was removed and if it's clean or not.

Your log is clean. If you disabled System Restore, make sure to enable it now.
To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section (http://www.greyknight17.com/spyware.htm#prevent) and use the tools provided. Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

Let's have another crack at this...
Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below. Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked. For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep). Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point. Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it): C:\WINDOWS\iau.exe C:\WINDOWS\stisvsq.exe C:\WINDOWS\svshost.exe C:\WINDOWS\msqdevl.exe C:\WINDOWS\lssas.exe C:\WINDOWS\mservice.exe Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any): C:\WINDOWS\iau.exe C:\WINDOWS\stisvsq.exe C:\WINDOWS\svshost.exe C:\WINDOWS\msqdevl.exe C:\WINDOWS\lssas.exe C:\WINDOWS\mservice.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://easy-search.biz R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://easy-search.biz O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Internet Acceleration Utility] iau.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Connection Wizard] stisvsq.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Games Acceleration] svshost.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Internet Mail and News] msqdevl.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Management Console] lssas.exe O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Multimedia extensions] mservice.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Internet Acceleration Utility] iau.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Internet Connection Wizard] stisvsq.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Games Acceleration] svshost.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Internet Mail and News] msqdevl.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Microsoft Management Console] lssas.exe O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Multimedia extensions] mservice.exe Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist: C:\WINDOWS\iau.exe C:\WINDOWS\stisvsq.exe C:\WINDOWS\svshost.exe C:\WINDOWS\msqdevl.exe C:\WINDOWS\lssas.exe C:\WINDOWS\mservice.exe Reboot into Normal Mode and post a new HijackThis log file so we can make sure it's clean. |
