HiJackThis Log - Paise
Dearest Gentlemen or Ladies:
I want to take a moment to thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. I would also like to make a small announcement regarding what is happening with my system and the reason I am no longer able to complete these problems myself as I did in the past. Please do not take offense to the manner in which I lay things out on the line. My close friends tell me that I have a manner that has a tendency to come off as a bit gritty; their husbands', whom do not realize I know what they think of me or how I managed to find out, often make references to the fact that as a woman, I tend to have brass ones larger than most men and mine tend to clang especially when I am in the business world. Perhaps it has to do with the fact I am a Sagittarius or maybe it is because I spent a large portion of my career working in a man's field of work along side men, some of whom did not appreciate the fact I could do the work they were doing as well as most and better than many. That is the least of my concerns especially nowadays since I am not in an office hitting a keyboard until called to go out into the field to run off a rottie twice my size in order to repair a line of coaxial cable. My days of rocking climbing are over as are my days of diving. I keep a handicap placard in my purse so it doesn't matter that the state revoked my drivers license so I have no further need to know how to park a truck with directional bore machine attached to the back on a busy six to eight lane highway. My inability to rock climb knocked me out of high-rise jobs helping my brother do electrical work as our father did. I often worked with him as long as I could pass for 18. I was also his driver what time we were all together when he was sober. I drove his truck to and from job sites ever since I was about 10 years old when he was too drunk to get to work or get home. I'm 200 miles inland so there goes any shot getting work on shrimp trawlers or doing repairs for the rich man's water toys. It is probably just as well since the arthritis pain from two autoimmune diseases isn't condusive to that type of work even if my vision wss well enough to do it. Over the last few years, the changes in technology have gone through the roof with amazing speed and in the same amount of time, my vision has deteriorate in peripheral and central vision with about the same accuracy yet in the opposite direction. In the same amount of time, we have hit the recession from hell so my SSDI check is basically useless after covering the mortgage with escrow thanks to the idiots that built a new subdivision and had the nerve to attach it to mine, which caused the apprasial of my house to rise some additional $40,000 more than it was before that jack-a$$ got his way to put those 55 homes up and then reap the whirlwind while putting the rest of us in the proverbial toilet since we pay both city and county taxes whereas the wankers up the road a bit on the farthest end have about another year or so of the good life until the idiots on the town board extend the city limits to include them. My computer is a Gateway Notebook. I've heard it referred to as an M860 and an NX850X. The latter is the one thing of which I am sure. It has 2 gb of ram, which I upgraded. It has a 70 gb hard drive, CDburner/DVD player with an external DVD burner/DVD player/CD player along with an external 80 gb hard drive. Oh, and the video card is an ATI Mobility Radeon X700, which I noted that Vista Ultimate finally managed to add an Ultimate driver for the bloody thing. Hu-RAH, perhaps Bill Gates is finally beginning to grow a brain; I doubt it but there is always hope right? In the crash, I lost my screen-reader with magnification software included built -into the program. At present, I am using the built-in crapper that Billy included with Ultimate when he should have had his techs working out the bugs. One would think that Billy would figure out his software has enough bugs in the system that he should send in the B-rated actors from Starship Troopers including the sequels instead of the technicians that created the former gleaming glory of Billy's equally buggy work. There are a few things I can tell you for certain. Before the crash, I managed to remove a malware program but there was not a virus present. I keep the Windows version of Defender going along with Symmantec's anti-virus program running. Once to twice every week I have a run-through with Trend-Micro's malware and anti-virus program running to make double-sure nothing slipped through. I run this machine through a hardware router that protects it from the outside internet. The router currently hides three machines behind it but until about a year ago, that number was six. I sent one of the desktops to my MIL's for her to use until she fried it. I sent another desktop but it somehow needs some work because it stopped working. The other desktop, which is one of two that sit on a desk in my living room needs a new mobo, ram chips, and possibly cd-roms/burners b/c I happened to fry the IDE slots after my vision crashed to the point where I was unable to see what I was doing and making certain I had my electrical discharge strap attached well. This machine is what I consider my bread and butter because without it, there literally is no bread, butter, other groceries, water/sewage, and other things to keep a home going with one child in her second year of college and a second heading to the fifth grade. I don't worry about the oldest. She is doing okay for herself but the 11yo is an AIG student and has been since the school tested her in kindergarten. She tests at least 2 to 3 grades higher than her grade level but I cannot afford to move her up a grade. She lacks the maturity to handle being around students two and three years older than she is so despite pressure from everyone from family, friends, teachers, and principals not to mention her dad, I keep her where she is and have the teachers bring the mountain to her, in books and work at her level versus her going to the mountain too soon. As of the close of the fourth grade, she was reading 8th and 9th grade books. Since first grade, she has been principal's list, honor roll, Roaring Reading program, student of the month every school year. In the last three years, she has been in the honors chorus program. If I am able to keep all this going, the teachers, tutors, my helping her, and ensuring there are art teachers to help promote her artistic side and help me teach her pottery so she can enter the national contest for students in the same grade and skill levels perhaps in the end she can earn a free ride to any college of her choice. I have been working with this child practically from the womb. She was reading letters and small words by her second birthday. Without my ability to keep the freelance writing going to add extra money each month, I run the risk of losing that dream for her. I can't lose that dream. I've already lost so much. Now you have an idea as to how important it is that I keep this computer running. I can't sit at a desk because it hurts my back. The notebook is the best option for me. I read online before this machine crashed that there was possibly something wrong with the service pack 1. I recall a service pack but I don't know if it was for Ultimate or for Office 2007, which had my email program, word processor, and the calendar that keeps the dates on all my medications so I don't miss any and therefore it makes it easier to prevent lupus flares from occuring. The editors that are aware of my health problems including the blindness work well with me but I have no desire to let them believe I need special treatment because of my disabilties. The other editors I work with that are not aware of my health issues do not need a reason to see what they feel is my slacking off when other writers are there to take my place. I am a bit leary of adding the last remaining update options before I know if there is an update that will cause the BSOD again. It is my understanding there is finally a Vista driver for the ATI X700 video card. It installed and so far seems to be running okay. However, I felt that way before too but the system crashed in a major way with only one malware fire to munk up the works. I've run anti-virus, malware, and checked all the files. I did have to run the HJT program as administrator but it's clean. The HJT file log is below if someone doesn't mind taking a look just to double check my checkup: I would be most appreciative. The program began acting a bit hinky so I removed it. I don't know if it was part of the reason it crashed or not but the game was on Microsoft's website so I felt it was safe enough. Also, I try to keep as few resident programs off the computer as possible because it takes so long to load with the addition of my screenr reader program. I hope that will not cause any problems with anyone taking a peek at the file... The worse my vision becomes and my arthritis as well as my immunity or rather the lack of it, the more I want normacy so I can work the way I did before putting in two jobs with well over 80 hours of work a week but those days are gone and if I don't want to lose my SSDI, I have to keep what I make with the writing to a minimum below the SGA amount. They already tax part of my SSDI. Any more and I won't be able to make ends meet at all then all my plans will fall apart. Please forgive the length and my lack of tack. I've spent the last several months working myself to the bone between writing and taking a full-course load at the college during spring 08 semester. The last two weeks of class is when my gallbladder began giving me trouble. I was able to hold off doing anything until after I passed everything; I earned an A (4.0 ) in the advanced ceramics class. Now, all I need is a kiln and my daughter and I can get to work in pottery. I use the computer to hold recipes for glazes and such too. Before I learned I was losing my sight and then later learning about the arthritis being the cause of the autoimmune diseases, my joint and hip pain, etc.... I worked 2 and sometimes 3 jobs while going to college full-time at night and raising my oldest child. She was only a toddler back then. I did that until she was about 7 years old or so when my life sort of went to hell in a handbasket. Her biological father took off when she was 10 months old and hasn't come back siince. At least my second child's father treats them both as if they are his children. We can't stay together and be good parents but the way things are, we can still parent without his fear of my dying and his having no way to make the eye disease, optic nerve problem or the autoimmune diseases go away no matter how many doctors he takes me to is just more than he can stand. I feel bad for him. He never signed up for this happening. I'm thankful for him being the father he is and helping as much as he can but it's all above and beyond the call especially as it goes for my oldest but he is their dad, no doubt about it and it genetics with my first doesn't matter at all. She's his child, no question. She is as much his child as the child we have together. Best wishes and my warmest regards, Paisley Place PS: I think I posted this in the right area. If I didn't, please let me know and I will attempt to move it. Again, I'm working with Vista's built-in low-vision software. It is nowhere near as powerful as ZoomText. If you don't mind, please stop by my website at The People's Media and share the web address to increase my viewer count. I earn a little extra as my page views increase. It isn't much but every little bit helps. http://www.associatedcontent.com/use...ley_place.html Last edited by Paise : 07-22-2008 at 03:30 AM. |
